What oil type question
Hi, I have a quick question really, but would like to include some background information, The question is simple, what oil do i need/should have?
5w-20 or 0w-20??
Heres the situation. i get the usual flyer from honda for the 19.99 oil change/freebies, make an appointment and take my car in, as soon as im there and pull up, someone comes to help me, i tell them im here for the 19.99 oil change, and hand him the coupon/flyer. He immediately says "OH! no no no, you want the 28.99 one, you need 0w-20" I dont really know.. so i just nod my head and said "oh, ok" Now, its honda.... so i didnt think twice about them trying to upsell me, at least not in the service dept. It says 5w-20 on my engine.. and 5w-20 in my manual.. at this point its much too late to change my mind (its actually been months and im about to take it to get another oil change) so i thought id make sure.
Its not a huge difference in price, so i didnt think too much of it at the time. but the more i think about it, but i prefer not to be upsold a second time, but if it really is as he said "need" then i dont mind.
thanks for any help and info!

The difference is virtually un-measurable.
At 212 they are both the same viscosity as a 20 weight oil.
at freezing one would act like a 5 weight one a 0 weight ....
Which is dang tough to measure outside a lab,,,
As long as its the right rating acronyms on the bottle your good.
Watch the Walmart oil carefully, they are so big Mobil makes special runs for them
usually with a cheaper detergent package. Read the bottles carefully.

Locate the oil fill cap on the engine.
Read the numbers on the cap..... that's your answer.
