[quote=bizzle;383495]no disrespect to OP or anyone else, but are you guys saying that my votes or anyone elses around where i was voting were not 'sincere'? we were just jacking up the price? who are you to make that assumption and why was it made? i apologize if i'm completely missing something, but i bid reasonably along with some other people and didn't jack up the price a large amount every time. its an auction, and being the third of its kind it should have been known that it may get popular. people know whats they are getting into when they bid, so they bid because they want to be pleasantly surprised.
why would you say this AFTER deleting my bids that were higher than 20?
why was the decision made to lower the price to 20 anyway? was my higher bid worthless because i am a new member? why not just delete the 45 dollar bid and go back to the bid before that? its up past that NOW anyway.
you sound like you WANTED it go get over 50. maybe people WANTED it get over 50 so they would get 'mad items'. shoot, ill admit i wanted some cool stuff. i was willing to put down some extra money i had.
in the future, please plan these better. you know now that there will be a high demand. make sure you have items of enough value to put in when the price DOES get above what you expect. also make note that if someone 'jacks up the bid' and other people keep up, perhaps the others wouldnt mind paying what they actually BID for.
if you KNOW whats in the box or what you're going to give to the highest bidder IS NOT worth their bid, why not limit the bid to a secret number. first to that number wins. something like that.
bottom line, i feel jacked - but who cares. its just a mystery box on the internet. im done here and you can have someone elses money. lol

Ok first off this is just for fun and not meant to hurt anybodys feeling as it must have. the reason to start the bidding back to 20 bucks is just because it did get a little ridiculous on the high bidding, not because "you are new" thats just ludicrous, my new on here too. Please remember this is just a box that i have gathered some thing together that i had laying around my warehouse, not like you'll be getting a KW charger or TR1 turbo, this is just good clean fun, and the comments about the price reaching a certain goal did really care if it went 50 to 100 or even 5 bucks, this is just something to have fun at and spit a little friendly game back in forth a couple bucks at a time member to member in good fun not to cause this beef.
so with all that sorry if any of you guys got offended for lowering the price down once it reached a high bid, but remember i chose to lower it since it was my thread (which i could have let it go if wanted to just go after the money), but i felt like this would give everyone a chance to play. the next one well go all out.
sorry again and hope you enjoyed playing
(posting hides any emotion so if any one this sounds like a "AHOLE" not meant that way
Haha.
I cant belive people spend 30$+ in this economy on someone esles "Junk" laying around lol.
It is fun to watch though hahaha.

it's completely beneficial to atticus. once it reaches a certain number, he then can determine what he wants to put in it. I think the only fair type of mystery box should be pre-packaged...then let the bidding commence.
i do recall him saying something along the lines of,

yes, this is all fun and games....but those who don't truly understand an auction kind of ruin it for those of us that do. going from a high bid of 2.50 to 13.50 in one bid kills it for me. one other thing that has obviously chapped me is the lack of organization on atticus' part. the whole "it will end sometime tomorrow" until someone calls him out on it is less than desirable. but hey.....capitalistic society, eh?

actually if you payed attention to the pic in the thread this box is pre-packaged and sealed before the auction started that one one good thing about it, i already know what is in the box, and as far as my statement you quoted me i simply stated that because if it truly did get over that i felt like the contains would need to be a little more and what i put in for a price like that.
and the whole time time, i just like to give people time to play and this is not by any mean a professional auction or EBAY auction its merely for fun.
too many ppl really digging into this and nit picking.
thanks to all that just understand this is FUN and not meant for SERIOUS COMPETITION.

I get the opposite vibe -- that Atticus had a prepackaged box of stuff, and when he saw the bidding get too high he would either call a halt or restart or something so that nobody would end up overpaying and getting all bent out of shape. But you managed to get bent out of shape anyway, which is remarkable to me.

But that's how an auction works. Maybe eBay lets you put in a big bid, and only uses it in dribs and drabs for you. But if you are standing in an auction house you can raise your hand or your placard and bid any amount you want. That's how auctions work.

And a free society too. You're free to take part or not. I hope next time you do not, because you are a total buzz kill.
