Has anybody checked out the specs for the new WRX265?
It is apparently a higher boost version complete with better suspension, race seats and a few other goodies for a few thousand more than the standard WRX.
It looks like a pretty good deal for the price and recent reviews are saying it might actually be able to beat an STI off the line!

What’s more, the WRX puts down its power more smoothly than the peaky STI, with ample grunt from 3000 rpm. The engine’s flexibility allowed us to leave the five-speed gearbox in third through most of the handling portion of this test. The Subaru’s suspension has been sportified, too. Front and rear springs are 43 and 42 percent stiffer and larger-diameter anti-roll bars are in place.
And to top it off... the sedan is cheaper here than the hatchback.... yet in the US it is only offered as a premium as a sedan. What a crazy difference between the cross border lineup!!
Basically 265hp across the board for the WRX. It really looks like a rocket!
If only Subaru was doing a fire-sale like GM, Ford and Chrysler I would pick one up today.... of course this also suddenly highlights the reason why they don't have to Who would have thought if you produced a car that people want to buy... they would and you wouldn't go bankrupt.
Oh well, I am sure after they use all of our hard earned tax money they will produce something worth buying.... lol, that will be the day. Yah for a hybrid Malibu and electric de-fun-ified Focus. .... oh right... our money

I still hated the 2002 bubble front styling more than the current look, however last years model was a nice return to aggressive styling. I still think the 99 was the best looking year for the Impreza.
More importantly, styling aside you can't ignore the 40hp & also torque bump for the 09 WRX. Plus with way higher RPM's for peaks you can really ring out the engine between shifts. The improved bolstered seats and stiffer suspension is nice too. I would say the old STI would be a good option, but good luck finding a used one that hasn't been beat on... if you do I would be willing to bet it is the same price as the new WRX.
While the old WRX was already a pretty good price, the new WRX265 is a few dozen steps ahead in performance. I think it is a great value, especially considering it is only 2000$ more than the standard WRX.
