What Brand of Oil?

It would be interesting to know what brand of motor oil do you use on your FiT.

Please post also the oil viscosity range and when/how often do you change oil. DIY or have someone do it?

I use Castrol GTX 5W-20 for my first oil change at 4,400Kms. Had it done by my mechanic.

By the next oil change (@ 11,000 Kms), I will likely switch to Mobil 1 5W-20 and will change oil every 7,500 Kms. thereafter.

Frequently and regular oil changes is cheap insurance!

Stick with Castrol/Quakerstate or whatever BUT NOT Mobil 1 Benggolf. I still don't like the fact that after u used Mobil 1 in Honda engines it starts to burn oil & stinks badly....especially in B/H/K series engines.

Me or my brother changes oil & do all the other services on my own Fit. I started to use Motul 8100 5w30 weight engine oil in my fit ever since it passed 10,000km, was using castrol GTX 5w30 before that.

Spoonek4, thanks for your input on Mobil 1 in Honda engines. I will look into it.
Noticed you are using a slightly heavier oil. Is it because you are racing the engine occasionally and could used the extra viscosity due to the higher operating temperatures.

Could the higher engine operating temperature be the reason why your engine smokes with lighter 5W-20 Mobil 1?

I read taht Mobil 1 is a thinner synthetic compared to other same viscosity synthetic oil.
