Where do you take your Fit for service other than the dealer.

I’ve looked through 8 pages of the Hawaii Community forum and could not find any thread on where to take our Fit for service. According to the dealer, my car will need brake and transmission fluid replacement soon and I don’t want to take it to the stealership. Can any locals recommend a trustworthy and a good repair shop that is knowledgeable with our vehicles?

My car is 2009 with 14,000 miles.

Where do you live?

Obviously dealership prices will be higher due to high labor costs.

I know of an independent mobile mechanic in the Mililani area that can do the job. Ask for Leonard at 676-2334.

From-
http://owners.honda.com/service-maintenance/minder?year=2009&model=Fit#mid^GE8849EW

shows
That due to the age of your Fit rather than mileage the following could be done now-
Replace brake fluid every 3 years no matter what the mileage
Transmission fluid can be changed at 60K miles or 5 years if you drive at low speeds in hilly areas. (maintenance minder 3).
Replace dust or pollen filter every 2 years, check if dirty before changing.
Do oil and filter changes every 10,000 miles or once yearly.
Replace air filter every 20,000 miles (1-2 years) or if dirty.
Rotate tires once a year or every 5000 miles
Inspect fuel filter, replace filter element if high pressure.
I would suggest replacing radiator coolant every 5 years or 30,000 miles.
Inspect items under Maintenance Minder B

Check your maintenance manual and follow the intervals for service of a normal vehicle.

If you have other questions about when to service things on a low mileage Fit then post them at-

Usually the answers are good.

I live in town. After researching and reading the reviews in Yelp, I decided to take my car in to Stewart. I had the brake and transmission fluid changed. The price was reasonable. thanks again.
