Hey Guys,

The staff here will be at SEMA in Vegas this year. Any recommendations on getting discounted hotel rates?

Any must see places in Vegas?

thanks!

Well that depends on what you are wanting to see while you are here. Do you want only Sin City or are you interested in the PG side of the city?

Unfortunately I don't have the time for the 'Sin' part of the city.

For PG I have personally gone to Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay and I thought that it was rather interesting. I have heard great things about going to the top of the Stratosphere. Just be ready for airport like security to go up. Only go to the Fremont Street Experience if you want to be able to tell your friends that you have been there. The shows that they put on can sometimes disappoint.

For food depends on what you are in to. I mean for a burger and fries you can't be in-n-out for the price. Also The Orleans has a pretty mean buffet only like $8 for lunch. Other notable buffets are Boulder Station and Sams Town.

Hope that helps ya out some.

Check out "mr. luckys" at the hard rock hotel. Order the "local special" its a steak, couple scampied shrimp, mash potatoes and a side salad for $7.77. Great food and great deal.

for the buffet, i suggest green valley ranch. its like 15 min south of the strip but its awesome food for $18

oh, if you like sushi and enjoy alcohol with it I definately recommend "All you can eat sushi" thats really the name of the restaurant. its at the corner Spring Mountain and Rainbow. Its all you can eat AND drink for 24.95.

There are always good things to see at the hotels. Make sure you bring comfortable walking shoes.

If you want to drive out to places, red rock canyon is a nice place to see and hike if you wish. Or heading out towards lake las vegas is a nice drive and a nice relaxing kind of spot.

Last time I went I lost a boat load of money, but I had the best time at O Shea's. It is kind of a dive of a casino but everyone was having a blast and there was a midget in a leprechaun suit running around and dancing on the bar.
The hooters casino was solid too, I liked that you didn't just hear all the slot machine noise. Instead they had music going pretty good. The "scenery" wasn't bad either.
PG uhh they have that in Vegas I saw the blue man group and it was pretty good. Maybe more of a PG13 though. The rides at the top of Statosphere are pretty exiciting and there is a decent midway at NYNY.
As far as a deal on hotels go... good luck specially during SEMA. But I think I would stay off the strip to get a little better deal maybe at one of the Station casino's, if those are still around.

I've been to the SEMA show the last nine years as an exhibitor. The show is awesome and will take you two days to really walk all of it. Here's a few tips. Wednesday and Thursday are the most crowded days but the best. Lots of celebrities signing autographs - tons of NASCAR drivers. The cars are unbelievable! There will be several trick fits there so take your digital camera. Park in the gold lot across Paradise Rd from the convention center - it's $5 a day with no in/out. Cafeteria type food is available throughout the show and is expensive - about twelve bucks for burger, chips and coke. Hotels - most of the strip is sold out for SEMA. Go west of I-15 and check out some of the locals. Kind of a dump is the Gold Coast but we've gotten rooms there as low as $39. It's right across the street from the Rio - a great suites hotel casino if you can get in - they have the best seafood bufet in town. Also, check out the plain jane hotels on Paradise Rd just south of the convention center near the Hard Rock casino. I've stayed at Candlewood Suites there for $79. On the other hand, also stayed at NYNY on the strip for $99. Most shows are great but pricey. For good food near the show, try the Gordon Bersch Brewery on Paradise. For about $15 try the meatloaf and a cold microbrew. Have fun. You'll go back every year once you've been! Post your pics when you get back!!!!
