Climbed Wolverine Peak on Friday, summit is 4450 feet above sea level, base is 1000 feet. High wind advisory was in effect when we started up, and things got ugly in a hurry. still had a lot of fun.

One of the dogs in our group went swimming and got swept away. He got out a few hundred feet further down stream.
A shot of the muddy conditions on the trail.

Taking a break.

Remains of a plane crash.
West side of the mountain.
Headed to the summit.
Climbing up the ridge to the top. Winds were at 60 MPH steady, gusting over 100 at this point.
Straight down the West face.
Almost to the top.
To the North from the summit.
South.
Me at the summit with the winds whipping past 80 MPH.
Damn that looked like a lot of fun. I love hiking with a bit of climbing involved. To bad i dont have the time for it anymore. Great pics and thanks for sharing.

No more Crotas. . .
Yeah, I camped in Hatchers Pass a couple years ago, very cool. Fun to drive through as well. Talkeetna is also a great place to get some great scenery. I prefer to stay on the peninsula tho, thats why I bought a house in South Anchorage instead of Eagle river or the valley.
My parents bought a place in Eagle River back in the 80's but since have sold it. Also they had a cabin at the Russian River which was way nice too. We use to snowmobile up Hatchers Pass and the board down. I had a mild sponsorship from R&R bicycle and the use to send me to Wasilla and Talkeetna for some races. But that was a while back. My sister lives down your way though. Still a cool place to check out! Enjoy your stay! So are you ETSing there?
Yeah, I have until October 2011 on this contract then I'm getting a job with the USGS up here. I've been in 6 years now and am tired of deploying, plus I have a kid on the way and don't want to miss out on everything because of a job. I've been up here since 2005, and my current tour goes to my ETS so I don't have to worry about moving before I get out.
Wow very beautiful!!! I miss Alaska so much! I was there last year for month and try to do Mt. Mckinley and only got to East Buttress at 14,000 ft. ....one day I will get to the top.
