Thanks! I'm loving my 50mm so far. Next on my list is going to be the SB-600 flash. Just gotta shell out that $225 for it.

here's a few that i took at my uncle's house tonight. I heard that bees die if they get flashed, but that didn't seem to be the case.

Just picked up my D60 and accessories. He even found the 18-55mm VR lens and gave it to me. So I got the D60, 17-70mm sigma lens, 18-55mm nikkon VR lens, SB600 flash, filter, and lowepro bag for 750

Last picture ill ever take with my P&S.

Took a bunch of pictures of my dogs and random things around the house. Heres my favorite ones. Mind you this is my first time shooting with a camera like this, everything was on auto, except for the macro shots.

Now I used the flash on the camera as I didnt have batteries for the SB600 flash. I think its way too bright, is there any way to fix that? I imagine it would be even brighter with the SB600. It seems that no matter the lighting, it would always flash when on auto.

Just noticed first pic is kinda blurry...

Spotted this BRIGHT orange GT3 RS getting towed or delivered somewhere.

*I shot this through a cloudy window, but it turned out decent.*

qbmurderer, congrats!
I'm jealous of your sigma lens.
All the pictures are blurry haha.

If you want to do macro shots.
Do this:
Put on the 18-55
Zoom to 55mm
Put it in A
Put scroll that little thing in the top right all the way down (it should be 5.6)
You will need a tripod if there's low light.

I do them in M and bounce the flash off the roof, but in M you choose the aperture, then the shutter speed (durr)
I would do 5.6 and about 1/200 and bounce the flash off the roof. If the pictures too dark, turn up the flash.

and man oh man how I love GT3 RS's. They look so good to me.

I know it your time using a DSLR.....but you always learn from your mistake from getting C&C from others....

First read through this
A Short Course in Photography: An Introduction to Photographic Technique

and this
Photography: An Introduction

to know about about your Aperture and shutter speed and most important focal and how long come they together to make the perfect short.

Yeah like said they are kinda blurry, the SB-600 should give enough light to avoid camera shake. Were you using the Sigma? If it's your first time having to manually focus then I can understand it. Most of them just look a little out of focus. It's all a learning game though, my shots the first day I got my D40 3 years ago looked very similar.

qb, congrats on the gear. for general shooting, I usually use mine on P. it's basically automatic, but it lets you choose if you want a flash or not, and choose the iso. I'll use the other settings if i have time to set it up, like for macro, or still shots.

kyle. looks good. I'd try to adjust the lighting though so you can see the whole label.

I just bought my camera a few weeks ago. It's a Nikon D40x with a 18-105mm Nikor Lens. Already taken about 1000 photos. Still learning every aspect of a good shot.

Here is a few and you can check out my flickr link on my sig.

Yes that's me. I set the camera and let my friend shoot the pics.

If I were you, I'd shoot in A!
You can choose what depth of field you'd like.
Yeah, I want to do another product-like shoot again soon.

so in A, you control the aperture, but the camera selects the shutter speed, yeah? i'll try that.
