Kyle, you know what looks weird about that one? He's under a tree I assume cause of the shadow and then theres a darker shadow for him. It looked really awkward.
I've lurked on this thread a few times and always enjoy the pics & tips you guys give. I took a photog class in college, but its been a while and I'm re-learning some things.
I have a Fuji FinePix S700 which is far better than a point & shoot, but not as sophisticated as the camera gear that most of you guys have, but still takes good quality photos, for my needs anyhoo. Here are some random shots taken at different times. I resized the photos for download.
Alabama sunsets - taken off my back deck earlier this year...
Botanical Gardens- Washington DC - last year
My kitty (one of them)
Orange Beach, AL last month - taken early morning

so i found the flickr of this guy i went to high school with. I used to think he was kind of a tool, but after seeing some of his photos, I have a new found respect for him. I think he's very talented.
I'm also a little jealous because i also went to school with many of his models, and I was never able to get them topless, haha.

Best book for learning the basics of practical/creative exposure; everything else stems from this stuff: Understanding Exposure: How to Shoot Great Photographs with a Film or Digital Camera by Bryan Peterson
Yeah I definately needed a tripod. Plus people kept moving around. I had the lens set on manual so I can get a quicker shot without having to wait for the autofocus. The camera itself was on auto with no flash.
