Honda S2000 Starting Problems

We bought a 2003 Honda S2000 used from a private party. The car has run
beautifully for about a week, never having a problem starting. This evening
I was going to take it out for a spin and tried to start it and it wouldn't
turn over. The starter motor is doing it's thing trying to get the engine
started. The problem is that the engine just won't kick in and start.

Now we "think" we noticed the maintenace required light start blinking when
you first put the key in. This maintenance required light blinking just
started yesterday. It blinks for a while and then goes out.

I know this isn't much information to go on, but does anybody have any ideas
why we are having starting problems? Again, it started perfectly for the
week leading up to tonight. FYI we only put the high test gas in it. So I
don't think it is a problem with the fuel grade.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You've probably got one leaking injector. Read your owner's manual about
how to start a flooded engine. Do like the book says and it will start
right away. Run a can if injector cleaner and the problem may not
reappear for a year.

Use gasohol (also explained in manual) occasionally will sometimes keep
injectors clean.

The maintenance light is a red herring, whether or not it is lit.

Make sure the fuel pump fuse is good.

BTW, Your starter is making it 'turn over' just wonderful, it's just not
FIRING (starting). One of the most common errors around here. . .

The maintenance light reqd light is probably going through it's test phase
on start. Your best bet is to have it towed to the dealer rather than
attempted a fix recommended in the blind in this newsgroup.

The maintenance light is a red herring. It just means the car is
approaching the mileage for an oil change. It counts from that last time it
was reset and is not actually connected to anything that indicates engine
problems.

You need to go back to the basics - does it have spark? Is it getting gas?
Air? Timing belt slipped? etc. You don't say what the mileage is, but if it
is still under warranty, I agree with the other poster - have the dealer fix
it.
