After numerous leaks, Nissan has released official information about the facelifted 2010 Altima.
Available as a sedan or coupe, the Altima receives minor styling changes such as a revised hood, a modified grille, and a new front bumper. Other tweaks include redesigned headlights, new wheels, and updated exterior colors.
Inside, the car boasts updated upholstery and revised trim. Options include a nine speaker Bose audio system, USB and iPod connectivity, Bluetooth hands-free communication, XM satellite radio, and a rearview camera. A hard drive-based navigation system (with a 6.5-inch touch-screen display, 9.3GB Music Box, Zagat restaurant guides, XM NavTraffic/NavWeather, Bluetooth streaming audio, DVD playback and auxiliary inputs) is also available.
Power comes from a 175 hp 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder, a 270 hp 3.5-liter V6, and a hybridized 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an advanced electric drive motor. The latter has a peak output of 198 horsepower (148 kW) and an estimated fuel economy rating of 35 mpg city / 33 mpg highway.
Arriving at US dealerships on October 5th, the 2010 Altima will be priced from $19,900 for the sedan, $22,440 for the coupe, and $26,780 for the hybrid.
Nissan is recalling about 26,000 Altima and Maxima passenger cars from the 2009-2010 model years. The company said the upper front strut insulators may crack, which could allow the strut to come out of its mounting position and affect vehicle stability. Dealers will replace both left and right front strut insulators free of charge when the recall begins about Oct. 5.
