Genuine vs. OEM vs. Aftermarket article discussion
For article itself see the link:
Genuine, OEM or Aftermarket Parts
What I would like to say here:
IMHO, the genuine parts with Honda logo (going to the dealership "Hitachi for Honda" for example) are given much tighter specs than the rest of OEM parts which sold in the stores (Hitachi brand name part). For example the ignition coil demonstrates 1000 consecutive sparks at certain test condition goes to Honda dealership; if the same ign coil makes 900 sparks at the same test condition it goes to the retail distributor, where it sold for lower price. Such difference will never be noticeable by ordinary driver who drives car with over 100,000 miles, however if such part will be put on low mileage (30 k or less car, the difference will likely be noted)
The used plastic door handles DO wear and do develop stress cracks; the glass panels are getting scratched and pitted by the dust; the body sheet metal may not fit well from one car to another (not to mention color mismatch).
A word of caution: used radiators and batteries are very risky parts to buy from the wrecking yard.
