NASA at Spring Mountain May 3-4

Hey fitfreakers. Would love to see more fits on the race track. NASA SOCAL and NASA AZ are having a crossover event at Spring Mountain in NV. I'll be coming from AZ. So come out and see what your car could do.

May 3-4

So this is a road rave event? Sorry checking this on my phone. Looming at the website it's gonna be costly for me with NASA fees and non-membership.

This is road racing it is super fun and if u go one time I promise u will be hooked. It is expensive but u get about 3-4 20min sessions a day. So in a weekend that is 2hrs to 2hrs and 40min. That is a ton of seat time for what you pay for. Ask the autocross guys how much they pay for the seat time.

Not bashing auto crossing but most of the people that start auto x switch the road course and they get hooked.

If its your first time then u will have an instructor with you riding passenger giving you tips. Also you will sit in a classroom and they will also teach you stuff there.

Also u will need to bring an approved helmet. Look at the rules and stuff so u don't have any surprises like tech inspection.

A couple weekends ago go I got my wife to finally do it in her fa5. She had so much fun. And for someone that is not competitive at all she loved and is hooked.

What set-up are you running?

I currently AutoX. I'm sure road racing is a lot better with longer track time. By the time may rolls around I plan on having some more mods to the Fit that will definitely make it more fun for road racing.

I'm hoping to have some more suspension and possibly brake upgrades done by then. I have a few things on order that will be here next week like wheel spacers, extended studies, and a WR IM.

So far:

AFE stage 2 intake
MR header
MR down pipe
WR IM (coming soon)
Hondata flash pro
ETC
K Sport coilover 12k ft, 10.8k r
Ultra Racing front, rear, and c-pillar bars
Stock wheels on 205/50R15 Bridgestone RE-11

How much camber are you running?

Was running 2.6 the last event went to 3.5 but I think it was too much so I'll put it at 3.0 next event.

How are you getting that much camber in the front? I installed some SPC bolts in the front and at best I'm getting is -2.0-2.2. I have the front dropped about 2 inches. I just did that tonight actually. The steering wheel is crooked as hell. After I race tomorrow I have to go back to Firestone and have them get the wheel straightened out.

I'll be going for more power as well towards the end of the year. Going to be SCing the Fit myself. Thanks for the offer though.

Damn what I'm I doing wrong with mine. Its odd I adjusted my Ksports for as much negative as possible and only got -.4. So I went and got the SPC bolts and yanked the shit out while the guy loosened the bolts and we got it to -2.2.

I found this strange. I would imagine with the adjustment on the coil overs alone I should be able to get some good negative camber. With the bolts I figured at least -3.

What I'm I doing wrong? Maybe I need to bring it to a suspension pro. The guys at Firestone are good. I usually help them while they work on my car.

Hahaha makes sense now. Thanks for the tip. This will be the next project in a few weeks. I'm sure the guys at Firestone are sick of me the fast few days specially since i'll be back again tomorrow after the race to get that steering wheel straight.

You driving over to the event in NV? Do you dilly drive these with that much camber?

I though about trying some events further away like NV, AZ, and NorCal. Although I will avoid the drive to NV or AZ after May. At least in the Fit. I am usually in AZ almost 1 a month or every other month for work.

I did daily it for a long time at 2.6. Probably around 3 years and like 50k miles. As long as the toe is 0 u shouldn't have a problem too much with tire wear. Now a days it sits in a garage and out of town tracks I usually rent a uhaul trailer that way if anything happens to the car I can bring it back. In town I occasionally drive the car on the streets on weekends. To meets and things like that. But its not my primary mode of transportation.

I'll make it to NV if my turbo doesn't sell by then. In June I'm stripping the car for cage and racing seat and harness. Will have nothing under the dash and will be paintkng the interior and cage as well.

Yeah I know my Fit is dependable for the drive. The wife uses it as her DD. Sh hates the drive (stiff springs and low ride). Hahaha. I drive my work vehicle all the tie so when I race the car or drive it randomly it reminds me why I bought the car. So much fun.

The max I plan on putting the front is -3. I have to get a SPC shim plate to fix the rear toe. Other then that I'll be set with suspension beside some new sway bars.

I wouldn't worry about front sway bar I would just do a rear. it will probably understeer with a big front sway. I removed my front sway bar endlinks the last couple events cause the car pushed through the corners. im goin to get 18 k rear springs and 14k front but I have to have different shocks valved for that kind of rates. also im going to get rid of the t1r sway I have and put the oem one back on. whiteline has an adjustable rear sway bar that they said only works for jdm models but im going to get it anyways and make it fit. I guess they say that it hits the fuel filter neck. but im going to be relocating all of that when its full raced out anyways. got to fill the tank faster for the endure races.

if u don't want to modify anything I would do the progress rear sway bar. ive had mine for like 5 years and if I could do it all over again that would be my first mod.

Finally found my receipt for my suspension. So I did:
8.7K front and 7.5 rear. Better then the 6.7K front and 5.2 rear stock kit.

Not going to make this event. Sounds awesome but with my work schedule and the entry fee is a little steep right now.

Maybe towards the end of the end, but I plan to venture this way in racing next year. Good luck out there. I'm always in AZ maybe I'll run into you some time.

Sounds good. I'm actually not making it either. I figured because of the roll cage fund and k swap fund that need to be done in October I should save by skipping this event.

Yeah thats serious funding! Good luck with that. I think i'm going to have fun this year in STF class with being NA and learn the car. After thinking about going SC for a few dollars more I might go K.
