search options

Any way to remove the 4 character minimum for the search function? Several times, I'm searching for things identified by 3 characters. Such as AFE, PRM, R18. . . When so many automotive and aftermarket manufacturers use 3 letter acronyms, the 4 character search limitation doesn't make much sense.

superb point

That "feature" has thwarted my searches many times. Many auto acronyms are 2 or 3 letters long.

There's simply no reason to have the search function limited in that way. It will cause new members to continually start threads which already exist, and a lot of frustration for all other members.

I highly doubt the site mods read these but.......this is a recurring issue on the site. Many new threads are started due to this issue, and most of them include the fact that they had trouble with the search terms.

I understand why you can't allow the search engine to find (PRM, for instance) all the posts with P's R's and M's, but you could simply allow quotation marks to be placed around any letter combination to achieve search results which match that term exactly. Thanks for your consideration.

Not positive but pretty sure search is set by vBulletin software and pretty sure you cant change this even with admin powers.

I always have success by searching PRM Intake, D2 coil overs etc

+1 on the search option, i want to search the forum for information regarding abs, and it says that abs was excluded from my search, so in the end my search query was "light"

i was going to suggest what Tork said. I have tried the AEM, PRI and failed...but have had better results saying AFE intake, D2 coilovers....just elaborate a bit.

May as well leave off the AEM and PRI though because it's ignoring that portion of your search query.

Yep, it's perfect now. Thanks.

**Everyone please note that you must use quotation marks around search terms like: PRM, T1R, and K&N to include these within the results of your search.

Thanks for the feedback. Most of all, thanks for your patience and for sticking with us for so long with no response from anyone!

You, or anyone else should feel free to PM me with any such site issues in the future. I will be keeping a regular eye on this forum as well moving forward.

Cheers,
Robb
