Should We Update The Forum Banner Photo?
#41
Thank god that bickering is over! Mike410 is correct accross the board. Why post a stock GK besides the cool looking Fit. Also, the horrible yellow Honda gave us is really evident when compared besides the mugen GD. I'd play with the color a bit or pick another color.
The Fit is basically the quintessiential granny car unless you have fun with it a little, perhaps by modding it a little. I vote NO for a stock GK.

Those are from a good angle. Is there anyone here with the PS skills to pull the cars out of the backgrounds?

That would required the extra challenge of getting a real pic of the three rather than trying to put the together with PS. Hey So Cal FitFreaks, when's the next meet ?
P.S. Black GK looks 100x better on the yellow background

Banner Debate
As the current owner of a GE Fit, you'll notice that my avatar is STILL my first GD Fit. Having said that, I've often wondered why the banner wasn't updated to be more inclusive. Prior to the H&R accident that totalled my GD, I didn't care for the GE. Now, it has grown on me, but the GD remains my first love! I'm still not sure about the GK yet, but should I have to get one......BTW: I vote for a BLUE Fit to be included and FWIW I am classified as a Senior!!

Yes, look at the strangely blank three quarters of the banner.
Lets put some variety there, both in color and in generation of over beloved Fits.

And finally, here's one with the GD and GE rear views separated to try to minimize the perspective differences:
With all three rear views separated:
With GK mirrored horizontally:
I appreciate the feelings of GE owners, but I still find my first one with the first and last generation more aesthetically pleasing, especially since the GD and GE look so similar (to me).

I like the idea of ride of the month. Get people to submit there car then the community can vote on it. Sure maybe a few bone stock Fits will be on the banner, so what? We also have some very nicely modded Fits and I am sure everyone would enjoy a chance to show off there car

I don't disagree that having three generations is busy …and what do we do when there's a fourth, fifth, and so on? An alternative used by many forums is to have only the current model pictured. As it is, this looks like a "classic Fit" forum from the banner. Tough decision--lots of possibilities.
Let me take this opportunity to thank those responsible for keeping the forum splash page current, and for their use of pictures from the threads they put on it. It really looks good.
Perhaps having a sub-forum for Fit Of The Month would give them material to post on the splash page, but that's a whole new project to be managed by someone.

Thanks everyone for your responses
I have spoken to Internet Brands and they are onboard for a banner change and we will open it up to the forum to come up with a design that the staff will vote on for the winner.

Banner cannot rotate and must be static in order for it to be compatible across all browsers. This also rules out the chance of using a revolving member photo.
