I understand that part, I did mention that the black linkage on the left side needed to be unhooked, but the one on the right didn't need to be messed with. Nor the cotter pin on the far left does not need to be taken out. Those are just unnecessary steps for the skunk2 ss.
you might have missunderstood the directions??? it just states to loosen the left side, by twisting the cotter pin, and wow yea that white piece off the pviot ball was a pain to take off

I agree with everyone that's done the install. It's not to bad. Kind of tricky at times. ( I did mine in the dark ) You may need a couple new " Xmas tree's" snaps. I didn't have any loctite on hand so I'm going to take her apart later this week again to put that stuff on. I can see why that would be a must. The bushing at the bottom of the shifter shaft is a pig but you can pry it off with a little elbow grease and a flat head. Best bang for the buck I've bought for the car. 2 thumbs up Skunk2!

Can I ask where you guys are ordering your SS from on skunks' website? I can't even get any fit parts to come up on their site. Are you just calling in the order?
Got mine in last night w/o too much trouble. I like how it feels. Feels notchy again and the throw is great. I'll recommend it if you can find it. WOW, the prices did go up.. try a best offer, but I'm sure since the first eBay batch sold so fast.. he knows there's a good market for them. Glad I thought about that first and made my impulsive purchase.. =D

With out that loctite it comes loose pretty quick. Didn't even last a day.
Wow...well I had a hard time using a little alan wrench to get those set screws in tight. IMO, they should have used regular screws made for a screw driver instead of set screws that require an alan wrench.
So I just purchased the short shifter. So I'm hoping it will be here in a week or so. Can anyone give me a ball-park time on how long it takes to install? Has anyone done a drive around with it in, how does it drive? Are the shifts noticably shorter?
Shifts are definitely shorter. The install takes less than 30 minutes. The two hardest part are prying off the white bushing and tightening the set screws. To pry off that white bushing off the shifter just use a screw driver and a towel and some leverage. To tighten the set screws just have them ready to be tightened once you put it on the shifter and make sure you slide it all the way up. It should slide flush over the shifter.
It does, but they are not that great. You are best off looking at the DIY Mugen Short Shifter install and read the Skunk2 installation at the SAME TIME to get a better understanding.
well....in, tested and liking very much!! "short" is not the right word! very short, and the shifter is a bit taller now. which i like...i was reaching down before, now more linear..weird how i don't feel i am in gear because the shift is so short, but i am!! best bang for the buck so far..of course the tanabe's are awesome but cost way more..lol
the bushing is actually very simple/easy to get off..took me a second..just pry with a flat head using the rear of the shift plate for leverage..prevents damage to the bushing and really required very little force..i think a 2 year old would have enough strenght...instruction booklet was clear and simple.....just want to say thanks Skunk 2, great product!!
