I just finished my first tank in my 2008 AT Sport and got: 32 MPG. That is pretty respectable for my first tank. Once the motor breaks in I hope to achieve 35+.
For the record, I do not hyper mile. I have been driving it a little bit easier than I normally would since I have not reached the 600 Mile mark yet, nothing extreme though. I have been accelerating at low 3k with the occasional 4K and had to pass a few times. Also I drive 50% Highway and 50% in town.

caeaves is on a distinguished road
After 53000 miles I can say that hitting 35 is easy. My wife and I, mostly her driving, have hit 37 on a few tankfuls and a miraculous 38 coming up from Florida. We must have had a tail wind giving us a boost. We have an 07 Fit Sport Auto. We drive the crap out of it.

Our best mileage has come at the last bit of the tires tread depth. Lower rolling resistance is nice. Once the new meats go on I am expecting a drop in MPG for awhile.
53k on those Dunlops is damn impressive though, (esp. for a sub brand of Goodyear) and they still have between 4 and 5/32nds. The alignment is what is starting to eat them though.

Forgot to add that the tire pressures were set to 38 front and rear for the trip and filled with nitrogen to keep the levels consistent a bit longer. Also, we have found that higher octane gas gives us better mileage. Don't know why, but it has proven to be true in back to back testing during our multitude of road trips.
