what to do about a dealership?

the dealership i bought my 07 fit from charged me 280+tax for mudguards for my fit sport. as im sure you all know you can't put mudguards on the sport, or at least that honda doesnt make any. ive talked to the dealer they told me they couldnt refund any of my money. they will only give me 300$ of service department stuff, which i declined, i already have a mechanic i take my car to that i trust and is a good friend of mine and works at a legit shop.

do you think honda may be able to get the dealer to take care of this issue or is the only option small claims court with the dealership itself? ive never tried to contact honda yet but have their number, does honda have anything to do with the actual dealerships?

Honda has no control over individual dealerships, and they have larger issues to deal with as a manufacturer anyway. When did you purchase the mudflaps? If it wasn't that long ago, I would just keep trying. Go up the management ladder at the dealer, argue that they sold you accessories that don't even work with your trim level of the car. Just keep pressing them until they cave.

As a last resort, you could get some of your money back by selling them here on the forum. I'm sure someone would like them.

wow, that dealership screwed you in the first place if you paid 280 for splash guards since list is like 100, and most honda dealerships sell them online for like 65 or less. i would keep trying to return them as someone said. good luck.

From the OP's story, it sounds like all he got from the dealer was a $280.00 CHARGE, but got NO splash guards at all. If my version is accurate, this is a clear case of FRAUD- easy to represent in court.

yep exactly what happened. didnt give me the mudguards and never told me about it, i bought the car about a year ago and was going over the receipt for the car during tax time and noticed the charge for mudguards and remember that i dont have mudguards and the fit sport cant have em in the first place.

If it's almost already a year you better act fast. Statue of limitations..anything over a year and you may not be able to fight it in court.

Go down to the dealership after dark with a stocking over your head. Bring the following items:

1. One gallon of day-glow yellow paint mixed with battery acid.
2. A stencil with an approximately 24" diameter cut-out of a lemon in the middle of it.
3. A cell phone.
4. The phone number for the local newspaper and/ or TV station.
5. A bicycle (because bikes have no plates).
6. A paint brush.

By now you now exactly where this is going, don't you?

Sneak onto the dealer's lot and, using the stencil, paint a large yellow LEMON on the hoods of all the cars parked closest to the street. Use left-over paint to print in big block letters on the front door "FRAUD."

Now pedal away from there post haste. Call the press and, posing as an innocent bystander, report this "most hilarious story" so that they'll get their photos and draw their own conclusions (and interview "witnesses") before the dealership opens and before the sales manager can cover up the embarrassing story. By the time the cops arrive the news has already made the morning news reports.

Of course, this would be more likely to have the desired effect in smaller cities, where the press loves a good story. Networks in larger cities have bigger fish to fry.

honda corporate

I'd still pursue this with the Honda corporate office if all else fails. The mudflaps won't go on a sport version of the fit. They said, in writing, that you were charged for mudflaps. Near as I can tell you, in fact, have no mudflaps. CORRECT? Slowly climb the management ladder but go to Honda at the end. I believe the phone # is in your manual. I hate to suggest this but do you have some TV station that tries to "out" disreputable businesses? It's so stupid that they screwed you so pathetically. They should have gone "market adjustment" which means that they're screwing you but being up front about it.

Man first of all, that dealership is retarded!!! ha, even a 4 year old sellin lemoaid on the street knows you can't put muds on a sport! That means who ever made the sticker and billed the parts must live under a rock. If you'd like i can help you with the "fraud" block letters? j/k. I'd go down there and wouldn't leave till you got your money, plus 280$ is way over priced for those. Good luck dude, let us know whatcha do.
