Dear Honda. sturdy roof rack system please.

I would love it if the Fit had an optional roof rail/rack system. seems many of the third party systems are only good for short spaced cross bars and light loads. many have even damaged the roofs of these cars by shifting.

Actually, I'd like a "sturdier" ROOF! It's still disconcerting to feel the roof panel "pop" in and out just from the pressure of my hand and a wash sponge.

Thicker metal on the roof = more weight, higher up. Roof metal has been flexible on every Honda I have owned since 1970. No step.

I have a yakima. No damage to my roof at all. I made a yakima build thread on the install. I got up an yanked as hard as i could on these bars. The only thing that moved was the car rocking back and forth. They are sturdy and can carry over 100lbs. Not sure what more you need it for. I carry two kayaks on top my fit. Never had an issue.

Refer to my Yakima Thread:

I'm not saying make the metal thicker, just redo the support braces or something. I shouldn't have to worry about denting the roof when I wash the car.

As little pressure as possible should be applied to the cloth or mit when washing a car. This prevents scratching of the surface. Unless you turn into the Hulk when you wash your car, it shouldn't dent.

In total Agreement

I've also read somewhere on this forum that aftermarket roof racks have move during driving and have damaged the finish of paint. not to mention the wallet. I realize were talking about the FIT here, But come on now, Honda, wake up and smell the roses. Even if I had to pay extra for it I would have paid it. I can sorta accept in not being on the 07 and 08 models, But ya redesigned it in 09 I really think it would be a classy look for the fit if it had a Factory woof wack.

when its paid for!!!!!

I keep thinking the car would be complete if it had a roof rack, dont get me wrong now, but no roof rack, not even on the 2012 no option - come on honda whats up with that s...t. I have an 08spt. I have considered going to a metal shop and asking for some one to design one. Yes it would be prement. So what, I not looking for styling points here. I like the car cause its like the mini clubman thinking but whhhhhoooollllllleee lot better.

roof racks cost 300.00 to 500 installed, Uh no not that rich yet, but I'm working on it. NOT. come on honda get off the pot already and get er done.
