If you HONDA could make a car similar to the Fit but RWD or AWD with rear based split it will sell faster than the Fit/Jazz.

It is already an excellent chassis ... small, cheap, fun, etc.

RWD with a close ratio 6 speed and a 2.0 liter N/A motor or a small displacement turbo motor with roughly 200 HP would be killer. Great entry level car to any SCCA racer or any other sanctioning body in N.A.

AWD would be great too. Both in mild and sport configurations for the people worried about all year reliability and the races who want the most grip at all times.

Please think about it HONDA. My money is ready.

I don't think the RS in Japan is AWD. Russia has one but I think they are the only ones with the AWD set up.

 

research gd4 chassis. It runs a viscious coupler that is electronic and runs the rear wheels when slip is detected in the front wheels.

the gd3 chassis can take the rear axle but you need a different gas tank to accept the driveshaft.

My thoughts have been on running a k24 with an element awd tranny and the gd4 rear axle assmbly.

 

Thought they were the ones who woulda got the AWD for sure.

Either way there is an AWD Fit and I want one. ;-;

15 years from production date I could have one.... 15 years.... By then Ill be back in an Audi though.

Neither will do what the Fit can, and Honda already has the CR-Z to mess with as a performance oriented fit chassis. Awd systems kill mpgs and add weight. Not in the Honda spirit.

A real RWD chassis 2+2 sports car... not a heavy pony-car, not a midsize front-driver coupe in sport clothing like the tC, not a compromised do-everything reasonably well car like the Fit, not a neo-British-roadster like the Miata, or a funky-retro, still wrong-wheel-drive mini like the, uh, mini. The used a freakin' Cayman as the handling benchmark for the car.

it won't be anything like the fit if they did make a rwd platform sports compact.

it they did, it will most likely will compete with the genesis or new frs.
the fit is fine just the way it is. fuel efficient compact fwd good around the city.

 

The closest thing I come up with when I think of a RWD car with the utility of a Fit is an USA built SUV... My last car with turbo and RWD was a Volvo 760 Turbo.. I had also owned a Volvo 245.. Both were nice drivers and the wagon though slow made up for it in comfort and utility... I don't race but still I like decent performance and I get that with my Fit and a few more modifications than most people are willing to do... FWD allows for better space utilization than you get with a car with a drive shaft.
