I got no front plates, and 35% all around.. I had a limo tint on my Aerio and couldn't see worth crap to backup day or night.. but thats just me. The 35% is a good tint just dark enough to look dark on the outside of the car and light enough to be able to back up inside the car.

Actually it's 25% on the sides (though they'll let 20% pass inspection, I guess to prevent people suing tint shops if they get a 24% tint), and no limit on the back as long as you have both side mirrors.

Here's the official word on it.

Then again, when I was getting mine tinted, they didn't have anything between 35% and 20%, so it didn't matter anyway.

yeah but I had 28% on my back window and it was really hard to see out of thats another reason i went with 35% all around

I have 20% all the way around. Tint guy said it will still pass inspection...mostly because our front windo is so hugh that a lot of light still comes in there.
