Houston Autocross Anyone?
Hello everyone! I was wondering if there were any active members in the greater Houston area that either are interested in or would like to try out autocross?
The autocross club that I partake and instruct in (Houston BMW CCA) is interested in opening an additional class for specifically for Front Wheel Drive, 4 cylinder vehicles which is known in the club as class X3F. This is a class very similar to SCCA's Street Touring in terms of ruling (will go on about that later) and also a class that the Fit does very well in.
The club's autocross chairman has reached out to me and asked if I could help gather interest in any people would be interested in coming out and participating with us, along with creating a class that will be competitive for those running FWD 4 cylinder vehicles. We hold our events at the Houston Police Academy on the north side of Houston (near the Bush Intercontinental Airport) and provide a safe but fun environment to come out, spend some time with fellow auto enthusiasts as well as offer a safe and controlled environment to drive your vehicle spiritedly with experienced instructors on site if you'd like any coaching or to even ride along with.
Below is a drone shot of our grid and course format for most days. Again, everything is setup to be safe for those on site, educational for those who have not autocrossed or tried to learn more about car control, and last but not least FUN for all that partake in the event.
Those who come out usually have a great time either driving, riding, or socializing among those who are spectating. Events are typically held on the third Sunday of each month; with the exception of our July and August breaks due to heat.
If anyone is interested please feel free to post here OR PM me directly. I am typically there each event and don't mind giving other folks rides.
It would be GREAT to get a few more Fits out here with us in class X3F!

Right on, I just seen that you have found DLBRacing's site and registered as well.
Just as a heads up though, the classing option may change to X3F if we can get enough people interested. Fingers crossed that we do! ^.^

Hey hey, we're still putting these events on with Houston BMW CCA!
If anyone is interested in autocross be it from a spectator, rider, or driver's perspective feel free to come and join us one day at the Houston Police Academy! Spectating and ride alongs with instructors are FREE, drivers must pay a 30 dollar entry fee AND must be a BMW CCA member (which is an annual 48 dollar fee).

Hello, I'm the guy who took the photo. I recognized it before I saw the credit. I sold my BMW 330i to a club member and bought a Fit LX today. All my cars were manual, but after reading all the pros and cons, I bought the CVT. I hope to see you at the next BMW autoX in December. The Fit will be a great companion to my Porsche 911 Turbo.
I should be out at the December event, I'll see you there.
