So, do we have any Jazz owners out there with winter driving experience? If so, what stock tires came with the car? Are they adequate for winter? Did you get a separate set of snow tires? Handling?

The FIT comes with all season tires which are fine for dry and wet (rain) conditions and a little light snow.

If you live in Michigan or other places that get standing snow in the winter you are much better off getting snow tires mounted on a separate set of rims.

Check with Jim@tirerack.com for options on 14" or 15" rims with dedicated snow tires for your FIT. Change over the the snow tires about thanksgiving time and back to summer tires in about early to mid April depending on your risk for spring snowfall.

I live in Ottawa, where there can be a lot of snow, so I thought I'd buy snow tires -- for the first time. I've always had an MT, so I only was stuck once, and that was on ice on a hill in a Tercel.

I did get the snow tires -- Toyo GO2's as recommended by Honda through my dealer. They also said that for the Sport Fit, I should drop down to 14", so I did. They also recommend for Ottawa to change tires 01 Nov and 01 April.

Total, with storage of the all seasons, came to $800 Cdn.

I already felt more secure in the Fit (compared to the junky Sportage I had before), and now the snow tires make me feel even better.

I also picked up better floor mats, they actually say "Fit" on them and there isn't any more giant tumbleweeds of fuzzosity. The dealer sold me a set for $80 Cdn, compared to others for the Fit that he had at $120.

I've already been rewarded for my efforts by a nice little snow squall yesterday.

Thanks for the suggestion! It was a bit icy on Nov 3rd and I had a pre-winter "black ice" experience while driving my RX8. Decided the Fit better have real snows for winter. I ended up getting F2 rims from Tire Rack and Michelin X Ice tires from Costco. They are currently giving a $60 instant rebate on Michelins. The total from Costco was $391.96 including extra warrenty, all installation costs and Nitrogen fill. The $60 rebate is only good for a few more days, if any of you are interested!
