A story involving alcohol, and a move to Phoenix
a story of how i became the pastry chef at one of the most well known restaurants in arizona.
i called them when i was in california, saying i have experience and wanted to see if they were looking for line help, as i was moving back in a week. that was a voicemail i left. they called me back and left a message the next day, telling me to come in the thursday after i got back, to come in at 3, and bring a coat and knives. i was busy moving and didn't call them back. it was thursday morning, and i decided that i wouldn't get the job and not to waste my time interviewing to be dissapointed. i was bored, and called and left a message again asking if they still wanted me to come in, and i needed directions. anyways, an hour goes by, so i start drinking, then go to the bar. it's almost 3 and i'm pretty hammered at a bar up the road from them that i went to. my phone rings, for some reason i answered it when i was DRUNK, and it was the chef. he asked if i still could come in, and of course since i was drunk, i was all like, **** yeah i'll come in. i get in, ask for the chef, they bring me into the kitchen to introduce myself, and instead of interviewing me, they give me an apron, and throw me in the kitchen when i'm drunkenly stumbling around with knives. they come up to me a few hours later, and i was assuming they were going to throw me out, i thought they knew i was drunk. but they asked me about my schooling and experience since they never saw a resume. i told them i was a pastry chef, and they said they were looking for a pastry chef to put on a salary! they asked me if i liked it, i said yeah, did the tax papers, and they asked me if i wanted to work the rest of the night, and to protect myself i told them i couldn't since i just moved, but i actually didn't want to get caught drunk at work. haha. i started the next day. This is in the Biltmore, i will not say the name of the restaurant online haha.
