The pedal I ordered on Sept. 15 arrived today and I installed it using the enclosed instructions in about 10 minutes. No problems, very easy to do. I then went for a quick drive and I have to tell you this makes a HUGE difference for me. I am more planted in my driving position, and can take corners faster and more confidently. There is still room for me to stretch my leg out between the brake and dead pedals - but I'll certainly have my foot planted on the dead pedal most of the time. It feels very solid and is made of quality materials with a nice textured powder coat. The "grip strip" is a very nice addition as well.

Thank you Zeta Products!

I certainly share your enthusiasm, however you are the only person I have ever heard contribute actual driving ability to a dead pedal. A first in my book...

Really? Makes sense really - have you ever autocrossed or done a track day (in any car) with stock seat belts? You don't feel nearly as in control of your car than when you are wearing properly installed harnesses and have the seat properly adjusted. The dead pedal is another component that helps to plant you in the car more firmly.

Thumbs up

:thumb up:

whatever works for you.

I've been tracking for the past 4 years or so, from my old Integra to my S2000, and I've got to be honest, my foot doesn't get the chance to rest on a deal pedal.

Whether it's trailbraking or working the clutch for the next gear shift, I keep my left foot working. And even when I'm not doing that and I am relaxing my left foot, it doesn't make me driver any better. Being aware of what's going on around me, in my car and making smart decisions on the track make me driver better.

As for as the harnesses, I'm sorry you don't feel like you're in control of your car without a 4-point harness. If you told me that and I was your instructor, I'd have second thoughts about getting into a car with you. I don't mean to be rude, but in my experience I've never had anyone rely on these items in order to make them drive well on a track or through a coned auto-x course.

None the less, I am glad you are happy with the dead pedal. I hope your tricks continue to work for you and I'll stick with what works for me.

I certainly appreciate your comments though wanted to clarify . . . I didn't say I felt out of control when using stock belts, my meaning was that I feel more in control using harnesses. I have enjoyed tracking my car many times at Audi and BMW club events and fully appreciate anyone who has been able to test thier own limits as well as limits of the car.

Again, while I respect your comments on this subject, your post is misinterpreting what I said.

gettinafit will become famous soon enough
A harness helps you to be connected to every roll that your car encounters and to be more able to sense the extreme limits before going over them. So a harness will allow you to take the turns better b/c you are more one with the car instaed of sliding in your seat!

Well, my dead pedal came in today, but my dealer just now told me that, after talking to the district manager, who spoke with AH, that there are no more manual fits to be had. None. Zip. Zilch. None more being built.

Anyone wanna buy a Fit dead pedal?

just got in 20 min ago

I just put it in, great quality, definetely no chance for this thing to break/give in. only concern would probably be for those road rage guys out there who stomp on there dead pedals. you only lose a couple of threads of spacing, but those 10mm 1/2 inch bolts look pretty weak especially if you're 200+lbs. It came with 2 sets of those anti-skid pads but i liked the install w/out them.

Got my dead pedal the other day from Zeta Products.

Here are some pics.

Instructions included with the dead pedal. 10 mm socket wrench with extension I used to install the dead pedal. Anti-skid tape not shown because you will see what I used below instead.

The thing circled in red is the kick panel rubber upper locater that needs to be pulled out of the locater hole. I removed the rubber around the locater pin while trying to move the pin out of the hole.

Retainer clips that hold the kick panel in place.

Where the kick panel connects to the retainer clips.

Kick panel removed.

Dead pedal installed.

Kick panel put back into place.

Matching "Mugen style" dead pedal installed with double stick tape on top of the Zeta Products dead pedal.
Under normal lighting conditions you can't see the dead pedal stick out from under the Mugen style dead pedal. It's only because I took the picture with a flash that allows you to see the dead pedal underneath.

That's one of the great things about this dead pedal is that you can install any other kind of dead pedal on top of it.

DUDE!!! i got my deadpedal @ 3:25pm by UPS and i was happy (and sad @ the same time cuz i had 2 go 2 work at 4). Luckily i knew it would take <10 minutes to install it so i got my 10mm and started working! Granted i got late to work 10 minutes (4:10pm) but it was soooo worth it cuz i FRIGGIN LOVE MY DEAD PEDAL!! u don't understand my left foot was sooo bored and cramped when i would drive and this has been one of the best things ive bought for my fit......wait i second that. ANYTHING i buy for the fit is the best thing!!! =]

T-Bone,

Thanks for the pics. That the exact same set-up that I have (just waiting for the Mugen-style dead pedal to arrive from Florida!).

Dead pedal order to be placed once I get home from work!
