Is the GD sport radio a direct replacement for the base radio?

Hey everyone,

Is the 2007-2008 Fit Sport stock radio head unit a direct replacement for the stock Fit base radio?

I want to keep the stock radio appearance.

I understand the sport deck has RCA out jacks whereas the base doesn't , plays mp3 discs, and has a cable to connect an mp3 player (a phone). Anything else?

Has anyone done this conversion with success and been happy?

I know you like the stock look (I do too), but if you're going to go to the trouble of putting in a new stereo, I highly recommend just biting the bullet and finding a double-DIN aftermarket stereo that "looks right" in the interior, as the sport radio isn't anything special itself and any used one you find is likely to have started to experience the LCD "fade" issue these stereos seem to experience over time, making them hard to read. Even a cheap modern stereo will be miles ahead.

no rca's on the sport head unit.. and also if yours is a true base, you will be missing the 2 rear door speakers. Also get the radio code if you are going to replace the deck.

Incorrect. The base has the rear door speakers, it just doesn't have the front door tweeters. The speakers are all there.

GO Aftermarket!!!

I have an '08 Fit Sport, and was never really happy with the stock sound system. Had plans to put new head unit, speakers, amp,..whole shebang. Started with an older JVC HD unit I had from years ago, with the scosche double din conversion kit, and quit right there. The bass reponse improvement alone was all I needed to forgo any more upgrades. Where there was almost no noticeable bass with stock, I can vibrate my rear view mirror with the right song now. DEFINITELY start with an aftermarket head unit, and gauge what you need after that. Just my two cents worth, anyway...
