Honda MTF.. Are they all the same?

Hey everyone.

I need to change all the fluids on my new to me 07, and want to start with the manual transmission.

Where are you guys buying your honda MTF? Are all honda MTF oils the same, or is there a preferred vender? I was thinking about amsoil synchromesh transmission fluid 5W-30, but found a few unhappy costumers online, so I will stick with honda MTF.

Thanks!

Hi rerod,

I've heard rumor that the "formula" has changed over the years, but the commonly available "Honda Manual Transmission Fluid" PN 08798-9031 is the stuff to use. You can buy it from a Honda dealer, or it can be found online on Amazon or Ebay.

You only need two quarts to do the job!

Honda MTF is one of the best. I bought mine off Amazon.

I have 2 bottles as my car was totaled before I got a chance to change it. I can flat rate ship them cheap to you.

I was happy to see oil come from the fill hole before I drained and filled my trans just now.. Pretty straight forward after looking at pictures what bolts to remove.

I removed the drivers side wheel to gain access but also had to remove the passenger side to drop the front to get the car level front to back and left to right to fill accurately.

I have a feeling flushing the brakes wont be as easy.

Your Fit is lucky to have you! I was also relieved that the fluid from my transmission wasn't silvery goop - in fact, it didn't look much different from the new stuff.

I thought the same thing watching it pour out. But the oil didn't look so good in the pan and I bet blackstone would say it was long over do. My GF argues with me about changing hers.. Over and over.
