Car just died while driving
 

Hey all. First post.

I have a 2007 fit sport manual, bought it used 3 weeks ago.

I was in the McDonald's drive thru line, and my car proceeded to just turn off and die. No electric power. Person behind me had to help me push the car out of the way.

Currently waiting for the tow truck. Any thoughts on what is going on?

Sorry to hear about your situation, but if all of a sudden you have no power even when key is turned to accessory mode then it could be a fuse somewhere. Don't think you can even pull engine codes with a code scanner without power to the vehicle.

So I had my car towed to a shop. They had it for almost 1 week, doing a bunch of different diagnostic tests. They said everything was fine. Paid them $150 for the tow and diagnostic tests.

That same day after I brought the car back home, the car wouldn't start again in my driveway. Jump started the car, and then took it to another shop. Once at the 2nd shop, the technician tried starting the car, and again the car wouldn't start. He took a look under the hood, checked the battery terminal wire connection and noticed it was loose! This was what was causing the problems... he took care of it right there by replacing the loose wire, and now so far no issues. :vtec:

Keep an eye on the OBD codes on that rig. I once bought a car that had the same issue. Figured out later that the seller was clearing the codes on a regular basis by disconnecting the battery cable so that the CEL light wouldn't show during a test drive. Bastard. Last time I bought a used car without first checking that all the OBD readiness tests were in the "complete" state.
