7 speed CVT toggle switch not working

7speed CVT toggle inoperative.
My 2003 has a steering wheel switch to use 7speeds via toggles on steering wheel also. It would show an “M” in the dash when in this Manual mode not the CVT mode. The car sat for over a year but is well maintained. What could the fault be and is it common. The wiring on the steerin column is apparently a “clock spring” but the mode dash light has no activity at all even if toggle circuit is shorted past micro switch. What is tha actual fault and if it is a fuse, or relay, where is the relay or fuse ?

I have removed a clock spring steering column device from a wrecked vehicle but it needs to have slack in it when steering is pointed straight to permit left and right turns without damage. Can anyone advise on the installation instructions for presetting the clock spring mechanism under the steering wheel? Is there access to a Workshop Manual on this Forum?

Have you checked all the fuses? sometimes it's the simple things.
