Coil lead doesn't fit new Hitachi coil pack
 

Hi All,

Working on my fiance's 07 Fit and ran into a weird issue. The new Hitachi coil packs from Rockauto use a different plug than the original-while the pins and overall shape look the same the tabs on the side are centered vertically on the new Hitachis but biased towards the top on the old ones. Additionally, the tabs on the top on each side of the plug catch are set wider apart. Anybody have an idea of what is going on? This car was bought used and has close to 200K miles on it and still has what looks to be the original coil packs (see pics below). I'm tempted to shave off the tabs so that the lead will fit....bad idea?

Ahhh, figured it out: user error. I thought the car was a 2007 and it is actually a 2012. Rockauto has the '07 part number as IGC0053 whereas the '12 is IGC0073 (and the pics of the connector do show what looks to be the correct tab orientation for my fiance's car). Unfortunately, or fortunately, I filed off the side tabs on the 0053 to get the connector to fit and the car seems to run fine....
