Few questions on the GD3

Just a few questions I am hoping you guys can help me out with:

I heard that our vtec engages anytime from 2.5k - 3.5k. is that true?

Also, are these engines running timing chains or timing belts? and regardless, when do they have to be adjusted, if ever?

And i heard about dataloggers? I am new to that stuff - do they make it for the fit? if so, how much and what brand? I was reading a few posts here and one post mentioned that they datalogged the fit's ecu to test different octane fuels. How does our engines retard/advance timing? does the sprockets slow down/speed up, or just that they leave the valves open/close longer? And.... how the hell does it do that? lol im pretty confused.

For the VTEC if im not mistaken, it engages at 2.5k if you mash on it and 3.5k in normal driving conditions.

Pretty sure its a timing belt and if I do remember the fit is 100k miles no service required (based on driving habits)

as long as you change your oil when needed and keep the oil level okay you dont have to service the chain

yup, it use timing chain, and you don't have to change it for almost its lifetime
