Bugs on paint
 

I travel a lot to central california and occasionally northern cali from southern cali all the time. Well because I travel a lot at night also, I also manage to kill tons of bugs on my front bumper. And lately not all of it washes off with the car washes.

What's the best way to get rid of the dried up bug guts?

Take a look at these 2 products, both should do the trick.

Clay bar usually works with any contaminants on the paint. Be sure to follow up with a nice coat (or two) of wax.

Should I wash first then clay ? or clay first then wash? or wash ? clay ? then wax?

someone tell me the order. I'm thinkin of getting the bug remover since it takes off tar n shit too. but i wanna get clay since i can jus get it right away at autozone or something.

Wash, dry, clay, wax. While you're at it might as well do your entire car. It might rain in Socal in the next few days though.

I've been using one of the name brand bug/tar remover which does not remove the wax. Wash, dry, spray this stuff on, let it sit a minute and then buff. Bugs come off and leaves a decent shine behind. Turtle Wax? I'd have to go out in the shop and it's freezing rain out there right now.

Which reminds me: I took my Fit off road last week, and it's FILTHY. I need to at least run it through the car wash to knock off the worst of the mud. The danged wheel wells hold rocks, too!

LOL! sup its been a long time =) oh but yah i do ALOT of travaling and usually wash my car at the dealer (honda clawson) cuss my friend works there but they come out okay you jsut have to do a bit more scrubbing =P oh and like super mario said clay bar works really good but yah over all i came to a point where its better off if you jsut buy the mask =P cuss tahts my plan =P

I'd go with the bug/tar remover first. Use a good quality microfiber cloth. Wax or seal after.

Claybar would be a last resort. It's easy to induce minor marring in the paint with claybar. When I claybar, it's usually a prep for a machine polish because the machine polishing will remove any marring by the clay. You won't see major scratches from the clay unless you misuse it but in direct sunlight, you'll see what look like spider webs in the direction you drew the clay across the paint. Bad sponges and towels leave similar marks.

Rain-X Bug and Tar Gel.

I have used that stuff for a while and it will clean the driest, nastiest crap around.
