Best Lowering Springs
 

What springs do YOU recommend me getting. I would like a significant drop but not slammed i want to clear some curbs i need some clearence. I don't have the cash for coilovers as of now.

I like skunk2 but I hear bad things.

Tanabe? Tein? Eibach? Check the suspension forums there should be a thread if spring rates and drop specs

I like my t1r.

i would find a linear rate spring that lowers no more than 1" on stock dampers. watever that maybe. somewhere in the 200lbs/in range.

i like my eibach sportlines but those are 2" drop

I'll have to revisit the suspension/springs thread. I read through it some time ago but much of it seemed for those wanting to go superlow. I can't lower that much and I dunno, it might not even be worth fooling with it at all.

skunks and t1r are stiffest. tanabe gf210's offer the lowest drop if I remember right. s-techs are always an option to or swifts.

You are thinking the Tanabe DF210's, those are the lowest drop

The GF210's and the Swift springs offer about 1" of drop; the least drop of any springs out there. I run the GF210's in my car, they are great! I would highly reccomend them, they have a good spring rate & the car isn't too low... makes a world of difference in the corners.

And to muddy the waters even further, I love my Skunk2s! They are lower than I had expected (bought them used) and not as "stiff" as I had expected. The ride feels just slightly firmer than OEM, but then I found the OE ride a little on the firm side. There is no body motion in cornering that i can feel anymore.

Swift. It's the only linear rate I know of and it doesn't give much of a drop - but improves handling a ton.

I need to change for coilover, i want a bigger spring rate, i'm looking for 5k in front and 7k in rear

I have the Teins and it's to bumby for me, could change with the new wheel/tire combo, but I'm not feeling them for a DD.

Should the stock struts be replaced with any lowering springs? Can I get away with using DF210s without destroying my car? This will be my first mod, and I'm worried lowering it will cost me new struts in a couple years.

this is stupid...of course the people who own their set of springs are going to recommend them and say they love them or they are great or bla bla bla....no one wants to feel stupid about their purchase....
you have two choices...drive someone elses fit who has aftermarket springs and repeat with someone else and someone else etc etc....
or buy a set of springs and try them then buy another set and try them etc etc....
only way to get a real world comparison....the rest is just opinion

I don't have the t1r yet but going by spring rates them and skunks are the stiffest if I remember. I think t1r's nare stiffer in front and skunks stiffer in the rear than eachother.

I think any springs will cause your stock struts to wear out sooner than they should; but yeah I would agree, I can only conclude that the lower you go the more stress you put on the strut and thus the strut would be done sooner.

I'm in the same boat I want to lower but not slam what's the smoothest springs I can get? Does going smoother forfeit performance?

I got the T1R for 50% off at AJ Racing. I have yet to install them but will be doing so with stock shocks for now...saving for Tokico Adjustable shocks or coilovers....both around the same price.
