A/C makes Knocking Sound in Warm Weather
I bought a 2008 Honda Fit last winter. I just realized as the weather is getting warmer, the A/C makes knocking sound every time I turn it on. It only happens when outside temp is higher than 80. I am planning to take it to dealer since the car is still under warranty but I am wondering if others have similar issues.

your a/c makes some noise when it turns on/off... so you're saying it's a different sound than when it was with the defroster turned on? cause the a/c turns on while in the defrost mode.

When it's warm, if I turn on the a/c or defroster, the knocking noise will come interminently. When it does, the a/c does not blow cool air. My first thought was the compressor, but it seems the sound is coming from the firewall area.

Try just running the A/C during the winter months. Oh, wait a minute...

A/C noise
Re:07 Fit ~ My a/c compressor has been making noise since last summer but every time I bring it to the dealership, no noise. What else is new?

The dealer found out that there is too much freon/pressure in the compressor. The warm wether cause them to expand even more pressure making the knocking noise to the compressor. In this case, I was lucky the compressor is able to witstand such amount of pressure.
The dealer evacuate and recharge the compressor according to spec. Problems solved. |
Please let this be the answer
