Hacked Fujita CAI.

I was bored today and decided to chop the fuijita intake to relocate the filter to make it easier to access. I think there was a thread about this a while back. Seems to have a meaner sound. Ill get back on throttle response after I drive it to work and back tomorrow.

Well I did a quick drive. Obviously not 400HP but I did notice a bit better response, bit torquier for whatever its worth.

is there another mounting point infront of the battery? cause the movement from the engine will probably make the it come loose

FitPilot 09-28-2009 09:14 PM

Yeah, It still has the original Fuijta mount that bolts to the stock mount for the air box. You can't see it in the pic because of the angle but it is directly infront of the battery. All i did was cut the Fujita pipe at the bend as seen in the pic so filter would be inside the engine bay rather than hidden behind the fog and having to remove the plastic underneath to get to it.

yeah that would get old real fast

now it just has all the heat soak of my t1r intake but less gains because it's just a straight pipe.

I thought with cold air intakes the point of having it tucked in the bumper cavity away from the engine was for separation from the engine heat? otherwise they would have designed it to go down in to the engine bay in the first place.

A.D.D...man, i gotta put that gloss vinyl on my roof i've been lazy as hell.

FitPilot 09-29-2009 12:57 AM

Yeah I did mess up the "cold air" part, but I'm over it. Never noticed a huge gain anyway, and I would rather have the better low end throttle response, I rarely rev the engine past 4k rpm anyway.

^i agree, i went from a traditional Cold air style to the shortened ASPEC and the lower power is really nice. Also makes the 2nd gear chirp more apparent :D
