Even being forewarned and really careful about it, mine popped out too when changing out my front strut assembly. Just be patient, keeping turning the assembly and trying slightly different angles while applying pressure, it should go back in eventually.

Tip: When trying to find the right angle and rotation to get it back in place you need to use more energy then just a little push. It will not slide in like nothing it will take a little bit of pressure.

f*** i'm still upset about it. i can't do anything it won't go in. i just tried it, and still it won't go in. AGHH!

Turn slightly & push x100. :D

I will go in eventually.

had the same problem with my friend's ge, good luck on trying the turn and feel method, 95% of the time, you won't get it in. The easiest way to do it is to pop out the whole axle, cut off the boot crimp, and replace the axle back in. From there make sure the bearings are repacked with grease, and reapply new crimp rings on both ends. then you can slide the whole axle aseembly back in.

This is the long way, but it will save you a lot of time from just sitting there turning and guessing that the axle is in the correct place :)

good luck, sucks that it happened to you..

i was lucky. i did it at my friends shop and the axel popped out. i forgot what he did but it only took 5 min

make sure the car is in 1st and jack up the whole front end. have a friend on the other side spinning the axle very slowly back and forth as you lift and push on the axle. it should just pop right in.

this happened to me while doing my asprings about a week ago and my heart dropped, i walked away and calmed down a bit. after about 15 mins and almost giving up it just slipped in out of nowhere. good luck, itll be ok you will get it!

Remove inner clamp, push boot back, stick ur fingers in, line up the bearings with the slots, push in,slide boot back on, & if u dont have a metal clamp to replace original dont sweat it use a Zip Tie until u get a chance to get a new one. Im still using the Zip Tie from a year ago

Do not force it in!! Once u line it up it will slide right in.

I lowered my wifes fit today and this happened. i did the zip tie thing but i think that if u would of just pushed the front part of the bearings in it would of just slid right, caus thats exactly what i did when i got the boot off.

When this happened to me i wigled it for a while got frustrated and stopped, when i came back it was in place... Jk
but actually its frustrating i got it so i could feel it slightly going in and i took a hammer and gently tapped the assembly and it rattled the bearings enough to get it into place. while i was doing this i was holding the axle on a jack trying different angles aswell. I dunno if it just randomly happened but the technique seemed to get it in place rather easy.

ok wait we talking about the inner (plunging tripod) or outter joint(reseppa joint)?
sencond. did it come apart i.e. the boot seperated and all the grease came out?
by what you said im assuming that the inner joint "internally came apart"....
with one hand stretch the axle slightly and turn it, while with the other hand try and massage the joint in.... it might take a while but you could get it back in.

tricks of the trade

As my struts where being replaced at dealer I noted two (wire) ties he was using. I asked what they where for. He responded to keep the axle where it belongs!
