Anyone else get this letter from Honda

I got this letter today from my Honda dealership even though the letter came from Kentucky. I just about lost it, here it is scanned:

You might not be able to read it but it basically said that they are looking to purchase my 2007 Honda Fit because they need 7 Fits by August 7th. According to their records I am one of a handful of individuals who currently own a Fit in good condition. Willing to give me top dollar minimal of $10,900.00 but may be willing to go higher. They state their pre-owned lots are down and they need vehicles especially used Fits. Of course they are willing to help me purchase a new Honda as a replacement when I trade in the Fit. NOT ON YOUR LIFE BUDDY! Just wanted to see if this is a standard letter being sent to all 2007 Honda Fit owners. I just now got this car paid down to about $3700.00 and it only has 18,000 miles on it so I would be crazy to trade it now and besides that - I could never part with my beloved MR Mugened out baby.

Sale or no sale, I think it's a definite honor on your part. Your GD's getting the right kind of attention :)

Standard dealer "sales-a-bration" bullshit. Its good that they want your car, and bad that they capturered your attention for longer than the walk to the kitchen trash can. I get those notices all the time for my "mint condition" 01 Hyundai Elantra that was destroyed in a roll-over almost six years ago LOL

I get mailings like that all the time from Cocoa (Florida) Hyundai, concerning my wife's 2006 Hyundai Elantra. My wife's 06 Elantra has just over 8,000 miles on it (yep 8k miles!). About a month ago I had nothing to do that Saturday afternoon, and thought if they were really doing what they were saying, that I could trade hers in on a new 2010 Elantra, and it would only cost me about $3,000 out of my pocket.
Wrongo!
They tried to reduce the trade value by 75 cents per mile on the car, and said they also would have to reduce the trade in an additional $1100 for "reconditioning", on a like new, garage kept car!
The "advertised" full original base model Hyundai Elantra MSRP price, trade in for my the 06, ended up almost $4000 less than the private sale Blue Book and Kelly prices.
Total BS.

I got a Email, letter in the mail and a phone call form the dealer basicly telling me they have a deal for me. I could traid my Fit in for a new Fit and have lower payments then I have now. I really wish I would have been able to talk to them when they called because I would like to know how that would have worked out seeing as my car is payed off :D Maybe they would have payed me to take a new Fit.

Pretty common practice among individual dealers (not manufacturers). They have access to DMV records and shotgun all the owners of a select group hoping to get a few "suckers". If they didn't make a profit they wouldn't do it.

I love the way they plastered two new Hondas on the bottom of the page thinking - hook that person to trade it in! I know that their used lot is a lot smaller than it normally is but we all know that is because the economy is really bad and no one is able to take on more debt.

Got two last week. One for the Element and one for the Civic. The one for the Element even had a hand written post-it note in it.

That I can believe :( And is the reason I settled for one with a slush box instead of a stick :(

kenchan 07-27-2010 05:54 PM

heck id be more than willing to part with my 08 FitS for $10.9K! :D

I got one as well, but the timing is bad. Also if I sell the car I'm not buying a new car.

I stay away from buying new cars to begin with. You're better off letting someone else eat the first years of depreciation.

Never receive that one man, but it's nice to know this.

Werd, but I meant more along the lines of selling the Fit and not buying a car at all this time around. I've been looking for jobs in places where public transportation will win.
