rear wheel problem

i have this sound making me crazy... like some airplane is taking off... so need some advise guys... how to fix this... rear both tires thing :P my english is poor so can't describe the thingy :P

Krimson_Cardnal 02-26-2011 09:27 AM

1) When do you hear the sound?
2) Does the sound change when you drive faster of slower?
3) After you drive the car does the center hub feel hot?

Texas Coyote 02-26-2011 01:08 PM

Sounds to me like you may be driving with your front windows up and your rear windows down.

mfs_axis 02-27-2011 07:41 AM

@Krimson_Cardnal
1.when i drive with about 50km/h
2.it get louder when i drive faster
3.nope... i think not... in mongolia it's about -20C so my car is like a freezer... :P when i change the heater to 4 then it get's hot :P... really don't know about it :P... it's a second hand car and i really wanna make this fit little more drive able thanks...
@Texas Coyote
i'm really not the drinker so it can't be :P

Texas Coyote 02-27-2011 08:31 AM

:rotfl:I didn't say anything about you being a drinker :rotfl: There is actually a cyclic build up and release of air pressure that occurs at a rate of right at 3 times a second at 100 Km/H when the front windows are up and the rear windows are down... The sound I am talking about sounds very much like a helicopter more than an airplane though... :wavey:

mfs_axis 02-27-2011 08:37 AM

just thought that you've messing with me :P sorry about that... all windows are closed and still there is a sound in the back... a lot of noise like some airplane is taking off... i really don't the thing in english but there is this little metal balls with metal around it... it's got dead and it's making sound said a random guy so i searched around the shops but there is none...

Texas Coyote 02-27-2011 08:49 AM

If it sounds like marbles or metal balls in an empty can that is being shaken and the exhaust noise is loud, it could be a loose baffle inside the muffler...

Krimson_Cardnal 02-27-2011 08:55 AM

I'm still not understanding where the noise is coming from? What's the word in Mongolian?

mfs_axis 02-27-2011 08:56 AM

nope i think it's not the baffle or a muffler... it's not from the exhaust... metal balls are the problem... and the noise is like a WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM :))... if it was summer time it would burn my tires... anything you know? or i'll catch some pic

Texas Coyote 02-27-2011 09:02 AM

That does sound like it could be the rear wheel bearings.

That's what I was thinking.

mfs_axis raise that wheel off the ground and check by spinning. Hear noise? If so you need to replace the hub bearing unit.

mfs_axis 02-27-2011 09:17 AM

yeah... but in mongolia it's different... there is no new bearings... could you imagine that?... there some second hand thing and the price is about 80$... really don't know what to do... now i know the name and the problem... have to do is find this bearing...

Krimson_Cardnal 02-27-2011 09:30 AM

I'm looking at a 1020 Fit.
You say you have a 2003.
You can replace the rear wheel bearing on that year I believe.
The Fit came to the USA in 2007 - that year they had replaceable bearings.

If anyone knows if a 2007 bearing will work in a 2003 Fit they cost $35US.

mfs_axis 02-27-2011 09:36 AM

hmmm.. i have 2003... and the youngest fit is mine :P there is no 2004 or 2005 even the new fit... so here in MONGOLIA is like a 5 year maybe 10 year back from USA :P sorry thanks for the help
