I paid 12k cash (closer to 12.7k out the door with tax, title, and license) at a dealership in South Western PA. It had close to 57k miles and is a FIT Sport. Tires are in good shape and no major damage otherwise. The hood is speckled up pretty bad from rock damage but I know someone who paints cars so no biggie. They said it had been sitting because of it being a manual. I drive a standard Ford Ranger so I didn't mind. Although, I would have preferred an auto so I could put a remote starter on it. They were asking 13.8k and I said 12k cash and walked when they said 12.9k. They called back and said ok. I told them there were several others in that price range within a 150 mile drive on AutoTrader.com.

I would try and talk the down!

That was a decent price; sounds like Yenko. The price was decent because of cosmetic damage. You'd be stunned by the percentage of buyers who know nothing about buying beyond the appearance of the vehicle. $12k for an 08 Sport with 57k is actually very good in today's market.
Shiny counts. But way more than it should; forget the repaint. It'll keep the marauders away. Enjoy. Even if you startto avoid the truck.

I got my 2008 Fit Sport A/T a little over 2 weeks ago for $11,800.00. Had right at 50,000 miles on it. All scheduled maintenance done by the owner and recorded in the service book. Garage kept, barely a scratch on it, zero curb rash on any of the wheels, nearly new tires.

Again agreeing that the price is way too high. My 07 sport with 50k miles came to me at $12k this past spring, that included extended warranty, tax and title, oil changes for some time, car was in excellent shape to begin with and they tossed in a fit-n-finish warranty to fix all dents/scratches/chips/stains/rips for 5 years, and a whopping $9k trade-in on my resented 06 Mercury Mariner Premier that they likely got hosed on in the end considering how long it sat there before it went to Auction. Only down side was being an automatic (flappy paddle shifters) and a weird disease on the front two wheels that is peeling the clear coat or whatever finish is on them off.
