Can't believe what I am being asked to do...
I purchased a CF front lip for the Fit and it did not work. Hugh fail due to buckling in the middle of the lip and then it started to pull away at the side seams. I sent pictures to Illstreets who forwarded them to Seibon.
I have been told that Seibon will do a refund for the cost of the lip but will not refund me the shipping cost which is fine by me. Now here is the part I've never heard of before. They want me to destroy the lip, send them a picture of it must be totally destroyed beyond being used or resold. Once they are satisfied with the pictures they will refund the purchase price. Has anyone ever heard of this before? I assumed they would want to see the lip back to exam why it failed etc. Now trying to figure out how this 55 year old lady is going to kill this lip! Any suggestions???? |
Seems reasonable to me.
Just throw a towel on it and have a neighbor with a truck drive over it. Bam. |

i had a company do the same thing for me when i ordered a EG lip and they sent me an EK one. It wasn't Seibon but it was VIS who had a Spoon replica lip that made me do it. I had to literally take my wifes Jeep and run it over until it was unusable. I thought it was pretty decent of them to replace my lip AND they even mailed me the proper lip free of charge. Although it made me cringe to destroy a $300 lip that was perfect.

Yea I have heard of that. A guy did it for his CF hood on his Corvette. instead of paying for the cost of shipping they just have u destroy it and then refund the money. So have some fun with it and destroy the crap out of it

Ding! Ding! Ding!
Not on car products but yes, I've heard of that practice before. They want to make sure no one else can use it and worthless for the company to take it back.
Well Cat, just a thought came to mind when you asked for suggestions. Since you do car shows and charity events, maybe you could add this as a side bar or piggy back on an event and make it a fund raiser. Need: sledgehammer, gloves and safety goggles Event: pound on the lip for $XX a swing... :) Just a thought... And don't forget to take pictures to send the vendor when you're done... Good luck! :wavey: |
lol, i think for our next Cupcake Meet i think i'll bring my old Civic parts car to the meet and let people take a whack at it for a few $$ a swing. That's a damn good idea right there...

Cat, don't worry it's normal. A CR-Z owner was asked to do the same thing a few weeks ago ---> Issues with Seibon Hood - Honda CR-Z Hybrid Car Forums

Dont forget to youtube it!

I had the same asked of me but on my $2000 carbon road bike frame. The braze on front adapter broke off. I had to send in pictures of the frame cut in half to get my warranty replacement frame.

Any suggestions???? They want to be sure the lip is not fraudulently used. If you got a refund and then used the lip, its fraud. Rather than paying to ship the lip back they just want proof it is no longer useable. Its good practice, we've used it ourselves after the first one was 'fraudulently' refunded and then used. |
