Cleaning engine compartment
 

hi everyone,
last week i open the bonet of the little jazz and notice the thick dirt on the pipes and other components around the engine. so i just quickly bought a engine cleaner and pour over everywhere and hose down with a clean water after 5 min but that dirt did not become loose and needed to be scrub with a brush. so the problem is there is not enough space to reach the certain area of the parts. anyone got any idea how to properly clean there?

I use Honda Brute, it works great. Its designed for use on motorsports bikes, its safe on paint if thoroughly rinsed off, usually can be found at many motorsport shops/dealers

Did you use a pressure washer to rinse the dirt off?
I clean my engine bay once a while, and I've never had problems rinsing the dirt off after soaking it in degreaser/engine cleaner.

When I had my old wrx, I used 50/50 mix of simple green and water. Sprayed it in the engine bay (wrap up electronic stuff in aluminum foil) and you can use a toothbrush to break up the dirt. Then just spray with low pressure from the hose. Worked great for me.

Does anybody else wrap their electrical connections before washing?

I spray Mr. Clean all over the engine and hose it down and then blow out all my electric connections with an air compessor. I've been doing it for years on all my vehicles and never had any trouble. Just dont spray alot of water on anything electric.

I would make sure i use the right product on the right material under there. metal cleaner that is safe for ever type, and say for the plastic just use some water to wipe the dirt off and treat with some vinyl rubber protector, oh and don't forget the ever important ELBOW GREESE:) I wish I could wash it the way I do my work truck, hose out the inside of the cabin and engine bay. I have even done it with truck on and never had a issue.

Just pay the $40 to have a professional detail shop steam clean it...
