Noise, won't go away, Tried a lot!
Hey guys, I'm having a bit of an issue.
First, I heard a noise coming from my engine after I change the weight of my oil (5w-30 instead of 5w-20), it's like a "tick tick tick tick tick" but, when I put my foot on the pedal to 1500-2000 rpm, it turns into a sort of growl, as if the tick is speeding up. I read on here I need to get my valves adjusted, so I took it to the dealer, paid $171 to get them adjusted, drove it home...IT WAS STILL THERE! So, I thought: "Maybe the platinum spark plugs I put in were no good" (I had NGK platinum, even though the car came with Denso Iridiums). So, I swapped them instead for a simple, Bosch copper plug and the noise has decreased a bit, but is still there. Could I be hearing a normal noise, like the timing chain (all other cars I've driven are belt driven, so I could just be hearing a difference in driving mechanisms)? Anything you guys could help me with would be awesome, I just want this noise to stop....every time I notice it I feel like I'm being a hypochondriac with my car. Thanks! Corey |
Oh, one last thing. The noise is either unnoticeable in the higher rpms (2500-up) or goes away completely.

Really? I was thinking something was rattling too but I wasn't sure. What could I do to fix this? Is there a thread already here? |
I've been reading and I'm going to check the heat shield. Thanks for that suggestion!
Dead thread at this point! :) |
the valves/injectors on the fit are noisy.
im gonna say the noise is in your head since your "looking" for somthign wrong. its probly been there the entire time. |

I have a similar ish noise as well.. I also adjusted the valves, changed oil, and don't have a heat shield on my header... At this point I have chalked it up to noisy injectors and drive train :o
