Bolt Won't Come Out
I'm doing the suspension over in my 2008 Fit. I'm putting in the T1R Basic Damper Coilover kit.
On the drivers side rear, I can't get the bottom bolt out. Tips? I can spin it a little. Sprayed it with a lot of PB blaster. |

I have no idea what bolt you are working with. If it moves then you can get it loose eventually. Continue lubricating it and rotate it tight then loose, followed by tight and loose again. Continue this until you get tired.
The absolute best penetrating oil is a 50-50 mix of acetone and ATF. The next best is Kroil. PB Blaster is a distant 3rd. A little heat applied to the bolt followed immediately with a soaking with penetrating oil helps. Soak it once a day with the penetrating oil of your choice and rotate a couple of times. After 4 or 5 days it will come loose. |
My apologies. I worked like 8 hours on my car and forgot to be specific.
It's the bolt that holds the bottom of the strut in place. It took me a while to get the other side off. It feels like I'm turning it against a rubber band because it just wants to spin back after I turn it. |
mine did this, and actually began to spread the mounts apart... i ended up cutting it out - the first bolt i've ever had to cut... it was seized in the shock lower mount...
try everything else first: penetrating spray, heat, breaker bar, etc... |
Doesn't sound like a rust problem, whenever I have had rust, a bolt won't move, once it does it will do it stiffly. As long as everybody is guessing, I would guess yours is bent.

One other thing I have done to get stuck bolts out beside penetrating oil and heat is to use a SMALLER 3/8" impact wrench on them. Do not get carried away with the impact wrench and break the bolt. A little impact one way and reverse it. Go through several repeated cycles of this while liberally soaking the the bolt with a good penetration oil.

I ended up cutting it off. It stripped the welded on 'nut'.
I then tapped the nut and put new bolts on. All set now. Now, I've gotta post another thread about the flex and noise I'm getting at the top of the front shocks. |
Exactly the same thing happened to me. Noise happened as well too. I'm installing coilovers soonish, seeing if the new shock will eliminate it.

It sounds like the bolt and metal tube like bushing that it fits through are rusted together and the springing back is caused by the rubber bushing they both fit through..
