My son rear ended a 530i...

As noted in title, my kid wrecked the Fit. He and the other driver are perfectly fine.
Quotes are $3700-3900 but not too sure I will file because the car will be at OhioState for another 18-24months and I am sure this won;t be the last time it will incur some sort of body damage. It's all plastics and thin metal. No damage to frame.

I drove it home ~90miles and after I got the quotes. I started bending panels and putting in new clips and washed it up. Headlight is totally loose with all tabs busted. It's not perfect but looks much better.

In a very bizarre coincidence, there is one GD3 at my local upullandpay and it's the proper color?! Felt like a glorious moment.

Picked up the hood, quarter, rear passenger door from when one of his friends side swiped it, radiator support and hinges for $140. I have been looking for a color matched hood for this car for a couple years now due to clear coat failure.

Reason I got the quotes was because my insurance company made me feel like I HAD to do this? The guy he hot has not responded. My feelings are if he doesn't make a claim, I won't either because our insurance is already so dag gone high and is this car really worth putting that kind of money in to the have my premiums increase? It's got 122k on it. Runs like a champ and all maintenance is meticulously maintained. I told our claim rep that if the guy files, I will too. Otherwise this will be a non payment claim which will supposedly not increase the premium.

Thoughts?

Your choice.
My only concerns would be "frame damage" even though you say there is not any.
And the safety and integrity of the rest of the vehicle. Front bumper etc.

But barring it not being safe or road worthy, I suppose it's your choice whether you want it fixed.

Glad everyone is ok!

the victim is probably handling the accident through insurance. his insurance will call u for follow up, unless the police report is clear who was at fault.

in dis case, ur insurance will go up regardless.

Well, I am waiting to call my insurance on Friday. Either the guy has responded to their calls or his insurance has filed a claim. We should know by then.

Using a rubber mallet, a couple screws and custom brackets and this is how it will roll till next weekend.

I have to admit...it's looks a lot better in the final picture than the 1st.
