Race Thread?
 

Anyone tracking their fit? I have an 08 Manual that I've inherited from my wife. I don't have the time and money to race competitively any more but thought it would be nice to get back in the game and do autocross.

Any brake fade with these cars? Being so light I'd expect not but never had drum breaks before.

Shocks/struts? I see rickauto doesn't really have anything interesting. Current ones are shot anyway.

Good tires for the stock size? My shot suspension chewed up my current tires so also need to replace anyway.

Other quirks?

I'll probably get it fixed up in time for the 2019 season.

If you're going to run in SCCA stock or "street" classes such as HS or H-Street you have to stay with the same wheel width as original with no more than a 7mm offset difference from OEM. You can go +/- 1" in wheel diameter. Not knowing which model you have I can't make recommendation on tire size. The tow hottest 200TW tires for autocross seem to be the Bridgestone RE-71R and the BF Goodrich Rival S 1.5 To stay in street class which is my recommendation. You can change struts/shocks but need to remain on the original springs. The last of the allowable modifications for the street classes is one sway bar change, either front or rear, CAT back exhaust and any air filter in the original air box. The limited changes are meant to keep costs down.

If you're autocrossing for fun, then great. It should be about fun anyway. With that being said, I'm sure you know the Fit is an extreme underdog in HS. There's allot better cars for HS such as the Fiesta ST, 2006-2001 Civic Si, Hyundai Velocitor and others.

In regard to the brakes. I've never had an issue with the stock brakes autocrossing. You shouldn't get them that hot for a typical 45-60 second autocross run.
