Car won’t go into Park

Car won’t go into Park

. My 07 Jazz Auto will not go into Park and is currently in Neutral. I can still shift it into Drive, but i can’t push the gear lever forward any further than neutral. Does anyone have any ideas on what to try to fix it?

Hi,

we can’t get it into reverse either, only neutral, drive and s. And yes, am pushing the brake pedal down all the way.

i owned an 06 fit in ireland. My mum in Australia had an 07 jazz which i now have that i’ve moved back to australia and my mum has the ‘16 jazz. Would you like a photo?

anything constructive would be appreciated.

So we’ve partially sorted the problem. By unscrewing the gear lever and taking that off we were able to get the car into park and the keys out of the ignition. I’ll need to carry a spare key with me to insert into the shift lock however to now move it out of park while i get a replacement for whichever part in the lever is broken.
