2008 honda fit bad mpg
I've been getting 150 miles to the tank on my fit . Ive changed the spark plugs, i also change the oil every 3000 miles .i never go pass 3000 rpm . I live in ny so there's alot of stop and go traffic but even so i shouldn't be getting less than 20 miles to the gallon. Thanks for your help

is driven at top gear between 1700 and 2000 rpm
at acceleration, the rpm are not exceeding 2500 (A/T) before shifting to next gear
the gas contains less than 10% of additives and less than 0.1% of water
So drive like a grandma on the country road and your car will meet the advertised expectations!
Ironically this city car demonstrates low fuel economy when driven in city traffic (this is why European and JDM models were equipped with CVT (which did not last long anyways)
other contributing factors can be
-shifted lean AFR sensor
-excessive valve clearances (loose valves)
-stuck open thermostat
-bad battery (increases alternator's duty cycle)

and this is why, I dont bother with the 1 post count folk
they type up a post (most of the times, already covered topics), and they never come back

Shitballzzz, I get pissed if mine is gets ~26mpg... When we used it at the travel lax command vehicle, with four grown ups, full of luggage, yakima skybox and driving thru the mountains at higher revs, it would drive me crazy because it would drop to ~21mpg. I always wondered how such a teeny tiny motor and a car that weighs so little how this car can't get like high 30's - low 40's mpg.
Maybe if you hyper mile it but is it really worth all the additional stress/worry?
I usually fill the car up around ~250 miles on trip odometer.
