NEW K&N CAI for GE8!! :]

wow it's finally out..can't wait to get it! who doesn't love K&N?

From what I've heard CAI's don't work too well on GE8's for power. Noise, yes.

5 hp isn't much, it's barely outside the variability of the dyno.

Nice to see major manufacturer support!

paulkangathang 08-21-2009 03:15 PM

well, in reality, there won't be much real power boost for any intake in the ge8, but there is definitely faster response. and since i have an automatic transmission, this is one of the few CAI's that will actually fit :]

I would imagine that any horsepower increase on a Fit is a plus. Even with forced induction the Fit is not going to have high horsepower I'm pretty sure. As for this intake I will most likely get one as K&N products are top notch and I can get it for a discount so it would be worth the money to me. I only bought the Fit for a fun car that I hardly drive but enjoy driving when I get a chance.

subscribed! for hopefully upcoming pics. someone get one !!!

wow by looking at the dyno (forgive me if im wrong tho, n00b dyno reader):
the stock fit dyno'ed at 82 degrees F in 26% humidity
the k&N fit dyno'ed at 97 degrees F in 12% humidity

for the k&N to gain 5hp at that hotter ambient temp, wont it gain a lot more if it were the same ambient temp as when the stock fit dyno'ed (82 degrees)?

My digi cam sucks at getting night time footage but it does pick up the sound pretty good. Anyway this is my K&N recently installed. YouTube - K&NGE8 Also, on mine I have the filter wrap which may take away some of the sound but I did not check it without it. Anyways cheers :wavey:

I am curious if there is a MPG gain.
I run K&N in all my vehicles. They are great. More HP and better (marginal) gas mileage.
Can't wait to get this for my FIT. :)

Since I live in SoCal I will bypass the throttle body water jacket completely.
Knowing that there will be debate about this I have done my research. The radiator fluid serves to warm the throttle body and keeps things from freezing up in very cold (sub zero) weather.
Cool air = more HP.

Total it came out to $364 w/ tax, filter wrap + free shipping. If you live out of state(ca) it would be $306 straight from K&N.

Obviously no one had it in stock since it came out on the 14th last week so I ordered it the 17th got it the 18th and did not have a chance to install it till last night. Install took about 30 minutes just taking my time, hardest thing to remove is those hose clamp clips, so get your self some needle nose pliers if you don't ave any.

jaebee 08-22-2009 05:38 PM

I will see what my pricing is on Monday but I'm sure I will be able to save some $$$. Maybe I'll pick up a few of these for some of my Fit Friends.

That just means K&N does not have any in stock but vendors should. If anything try AutoAnything , they have it listed at the same price as K&N.

09 Fit 09-05-2009 04:29 PM

Got mine on eBay with free shipping.

jdmjunkie561 09-05-2009 07:38 PM

So how do u like it ? Was it worth It? Don't know why I'm contemplating it but f@€k it I think imma order it !!!!!

09 Fit 09-05-2009 10:59 PM

Just starting the install.
The instructions state that it is not necessary to remove the battery but you should remove the hold down bracket so that the battery is loose. That will give you a little more wiggle room.

jdmjunkie561 09-09-2009 10:20 PM

i cant believe it again!! i actually ordered and paid through a vendor for this intakeand its out of stock and their shipment isnt for another 2-3 weeks from now.. do i have some luck or what????:hyper:

Yeah, I would definitely move the battery all todether. It will save you a lot of time in the long run. Just put mine in yesterday and it made it much easier!:D
