DIY: Accord Exhaust Tips

Hi,
I just finished installing Accord Exhaust Tips (Part# 18310-TA1-315).
This tips Oval Shape fit the Oval Opening of Honda Fit Sport Rear Bumper.
But since Accord Exhaust Pipe are much larger then Honda Fit Exhaust Pipe,
plus the Accord Exhaust Tips are Shorter then the original Fit Sport Exhaust Tips, some Bracket and Spacer are needed.

In order to make sure all the bracket, bolt will not easily rust,
I paint them with High Temp Black Paint.
This Paint require heat treatment after you apply the paint,
so I baked them in the oven at 3 different heat stages in 3 separate process. Check the instruction on the Paint can.
Here is the Paint Picture:

To over come the different in Pipe Diameter, I use Two U Shaped Pipe Bracket as spacer. Notice that I already Paint this U Shaped Pipe Bracket too. In the same picture you will see a Plate with holes about 7cm long.
This one I use as a bracket to hold the Exhaust Tips to Original Mounting Flange on the Fit Exhaust Pipe.
Here is the pictures:

The Accord Exhaust Tips had Larger Hole Opening and it will look funny
if people can see the small Fit Exhaust Pipe inside the hole of the exhaust tips,
so I bought a Round Wall Water Tap backing plate/cover at home depot,
and put it on the center of the Tips hole, check this picture of the backing plate from behind and from the front:
http://i849.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps6cf99a56.jpg
http://i849.photobucket.com/albums/a...pscc858365.jpg

yeah, some of the paint cracked and I am too lazy to repaint it...
oh, I forgot to mention that since the Accord Exhaust Tips were all chrome plated, that mean the center part of the tips were also shiny chrome...
so to make the illusion that the exhaust is actually larger, I paint the center part of the exhaust tips with the same high temp black paint.

Here are the U Pipe Bracket installed on the exhaust pipe at about 12cm from the end of the exhaust pipe. I use the second U Pipe Bracket right behind the first bracket to provide the exhaust tips with more stable mounting.

http://i849.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps33bfcffe.jpg

We need 2 metric Bolt and 1 nuts to hold the flat metal bracket
here are the pictures of them before and after install:

Just to make sure, I apply Permanent Strength Loctite so this bolt won't fall due to vibration and heat !!!

And below is the pictures of the exhaust tips it self before and after Install:
http://i849.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps310245fd.jpghttp://i849.photobucket.com/albums/a...pscc858365.jpghttp://i849.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps172f6d8f.jpghttp://i849.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps0fcc2c1a.jpghttp://i849.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps2705e37d.jpghttp://i849.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps02438df1.jpghttp://i849.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps2990f976.jpghttp://i849.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps9e5037dd.jpg

From this pictures, sometimes you see the exhaust is not centered or
the gaps between the exhaust to bumper is too large...
but that is because the way I took the pictures from several angle.
If you see it in real life (eye level height), the exhaust looks centered and ideal from any angle.

I also do not need to cut any bumper part because there are plenty of clearance from the stock 2013 Fit Sport Bumper opening. :vtec:

oh, I also remember that some people change their exhaust tips using the Honda S2000 tips.
May I know what is the different between Honda Accord Exhaust Tips and S2000 tips?
Which one had larger diameter ?
If anyone had a picture of their car with Honda S2000 tips, please kindly post it here,
so I can compare.
Thanks

I think the original tip looks better since it matches the shape of the bumper cutout, but good work nonetheless.

Hello,
This is the only pictures I have when I install the S2K AP2 exhaust tips...
as far as I remember, the exhaust tips was bolt on to the original Honda Fit Sport muffler...
but it had been a while, and now I use OEM Honda Civic Si Muffler (2 generations ago Honda Civic Si) and I need to weld it...

The S2K AP2 exhaust tips is LARGER than the Honda Accord exhaust tips...
