Very glad I found this thread. I wondered if anyone had done this. The shape of the bumper cover just begs for it. I don't have my Fit yet but this was my first planned mod even before I found the thread.

Anyone done this on a color other than white yet?

Has anyone tried this with plasti dip?

I am looking for an non - permanent way to do this?

How should I approach this area if I use plasti dip? Should I just tape off starting where the two pieces come together, so If I have to remove the left and right rear bumper areas, it wouldn't ruin my plastidip.

Also, is my paint line to high, should I lower it slightly? It looks like everyone else put taped in the crevice, not as high as I have here. This is my first time painting a part on a vehicle, so I want to use plasti dip to ensure if I fuck it up, I can easily remove it.

I went ahead and did it with plasti-dip. Looks great, just have to touch up 1 or 2 little spots once it dries fully. Moved my paint line down some as well. When the car is on the ground, you can hardly tell there are any imperfections, it looks really good.

Best thing is its fully removable and will peel right off if I want to take it off ever.

^^ the write up on the external forum thread suggests 3-4 coats for easy peel when needed

I thought about using plasti-dip but in the end I just used krylon fusion satin. I painted mine last March amd have only needed to touch up a few spots. If it starts to looks bad later on down the road it will just force me to buy a jdp rear diffuser so....

I have about 4-5 layers on there and maybe another 1 or 2 in my touch up spots. The Plasti dip looks great. I will be doing the front in a few days, and may even do the roof.

I went with Plasti-dip beacuse of the removabilty feature if I fucked it up as this was the first time I "painted" on any car.

Plasti dip, I might do my roof soon, as only local shop wants $300 to put black vinyl on my roof.

LOOKS GREAT! +2 for your craftsmanship. although i probably would of tapered the edge of it instead of going around the verticle part.

What exactly do you mean, its just plasti dip, i can take it right off and redo it in an hour to make it look better.

i'm aware of what plasti dip is. i used it too as a base coat on my rims when i painted them taffeta white incase i ever wanted to go back to the OE finish. anyways, i was talking about just tapering it as a straight diagonal line instead of trying to go around the verticle part first. here's an example on note's car.

i just don't agree with how it seems to dips around a corner first before dropping down on your car. don't get me wrong! if thats what you like, don't let me discourage you. just my harmless 2 cents. he also painted the inside of the verticle part too so thats why it may look more umm... "flush" for lack of a better word.

This looks great on the rear bumper, esp on a white car. The front bumper doesn't seem "made for it" like the rear, but to each his own. I'd do the rear bumper if I had a light car, but it's probably not worth it with the Vortex Blue.

I used duplicolor bed liner to do mine. The bed liner gives it some texture so it looks more like a real plastic piece. I also removed the bumper to do it and removed the corner peices to get a good line. Everything turned out great. Removing the bumper was a little bit of a PITA but I think it made it easier to get clean lines.

Wow, this is a great alternative to getting the jdp front/rear lip. Totally going to do this after I get a drop.

Keep it up Britdevine and you will have a black car. The front does not do it for me. Looks like a chunk has been bitten out of the center.

Popopopop - you can do it before you lower it too.

I did mine here https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...iny-again.html
